I just saw a negative review of Barclay House and as a recent guest who truly enjoyed her weekend there, feel compelled to respond. Suffice to say, I couldn't disagree more. Perhaps it would have helped them to better understand what type of accommodation it is before pressing 'book?. Barclay House is unique and, based on our experience there last week, very special. It melds many of the best elements of staying in a fine hotel, a self-catered (holiday) let and a traditional BnB. It's located in a quiet, pristine residential street in a lovely area of Fulham, a few minutes walk from the Fulham Broadway (District Line) tube station, a large Waitrose supermarket, Eel Brook Common Green and many good restaurants. In fact, it was for the great location that we originally booked. But that's not why we'll be returning -- and we most definitely hope to, if there's availability. Equally as impressive as the location were the high-standard fittings, amazingly comfy bed, and immaculately clean and well-cared for condition of the room and ensuite. The hosts, Charlotte and Adrian, who, we learned live upstairs, are not only experienced travellers themselves but they're intuitive, so they understood what we wanted and needed, and were friendly and helpful, without being intrusive. There's no "B&B" sign on the building (you get the exact address when you book), which makes you feel like you're part of the neighbourhood, and also somehow lends a sense of security. There's a wee well-equipped and stocked kitchen area serving the three guest rooms, where, in the morning, we found warm croissants, other light breakfast offerings, and a wide variety and unlimited supply of coffee and teas. This arrangement suited us well as we needed to get out early every morning and appreciated being able to grab a warm bite without having to either make it ourselves, pull ourselves together to meet with B&B hosts over a long breakfast, sit in a hotel dining room or queue at a cafe (although, to be fair, there are a number of wonderful ones nearby). All told, we found Barclay House London to be special, and, for us at least, the ideal...
Read moreConveniently located in Fulham- a quick walk to the tube takes you downtown, and there are many pubs and shopping in very close distance making The Barclay House a great place to stay. BOOK THROUGH the Barclay house website- not booking dotcom to get a more spacious room. Fresh baked croissants and fruit in the morning, coffee, tea and filtered water available all day long. The room has air con too - and a massive window for fresh air days in London. There are steps required for entry. The shower water is hot and the linens are lovely- in fact I ended up shopping for linens at the White Company due to the quality of what’s was used at The Barclay House.

Read moreI stayed here for 4 nights in May 2025. Room was very clean and comfortable and staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to do a load of laundry for me in one day at a reasonable price, which was super helpful as I was on extended travel. This saved me several hours of sitting in a laundromat on my vacation, where I would have paid not much less than they charged me.
The location is a bit out of central London and the touristy area, but I greatly appreciated this as the cost was cheaper than the same thing closer in and it was nice to be able to retreat to an area with fewer touristy crowds and more actual locals. Lots of good places to eat for dinner that were lower priced than central London, good food quality and not crowded.
There is an underground stop only a few hundred meters away and once you get the hang of it, it will get you anywhere in London reasonably quickly and inexpensively. There is also an Uber boat stop about 1 mile away on the Thames that is a slower, way to get about but pretty fun.
Finally, the location is very close to Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea Football Club's stadium. So if you can score tickets to one of their games while you are there it is a quick walk to the stadium. I was very happy with my stay and would definitely...
