Wonderfully hidden gem. Accessed via the riverbank (via Champions Wharf), through the brick arch & over an ornate stone bridge. Exceedingly tranquil with the finest example of grouped Italian marble statues outside of Italy ; Depicting the Oceanids (water nymphs of Greek mythology ; pearl divers) clambering and lounging over a mahoosive cascading waterfall which falls into a beautiful lily filled fishpond. This remarkable feature was installed by the last private resident of York House, an Indian Prince and merchant Sir Ratan Tata. (Not the Sir Ratan Tata of today but possibly his ancestor). Also home to one of the "great trees of London" a beach overhanging The Thames. In close proximity to Marble Hill House and Eel Pie Island, and Sweet Memories sweet emporium for old favourites for the sweet toothed and deluxe ice-cream for all. Or you can take the Hammerton's Ferry over the Thames to Ham House and after you have taken that in, you can walk to Richmond Bridge. Lots of pubs along the river if you are not too keen on walking. But beware of high tides especially in the Spring. Known by many as the Secret...
Read moreFree to visit park near Twickenham. The park is split into two areas, one next to the river Thames offering lovely views up and down the river and plenty of benches to sit. Just behind there are enclosed gardens with borders if hedges, flowers and in one part a central area with rise bushes that must give a lovely burst of colour in their peak season. There is also a wonderful water feature that once belonged to the financier Whitaker Wright and later to the Indian merchant prince Ratan Tata. There is a wooded area and a large open lawn, lovely for a picnic plus there is a lovely setting with ponds, ornate trees and a sculpture. Twickenham Riverside has pubs and restaurants if you're in need of a drink or something to eat. I'm not sure about parking as I was parked at Marble Hill and had taken a stroll along the...

Be warned it's not a place to kick a ball about but there are tons of things to see. The local wildlife is also breathtaking. Never did I ever expect to see such a place in London! Well...
