On I arrival a customer warned me not to bother ordering I wish I had listen!
This place had great reviews on Tripadvisor, however things have taken a turn for the worst! It's was a rugby match day so I was expecting to have to wait a little longer for service, there was a reduced menu which I accepted again because it was a match day. We waited over 10 minutes to be given a drinks menu then waited another 30 minutes for drinks to arrive. After about another 15 minutes we called a waiter over to order our meal, our waiter happened to be the manager he apologized for the wait and took our order after 40 minutes with nothing coming out the kitchen we asked how much longer it would be, nobody really knew, after another 15 I said we were leaving if the food wasn't out in the next 10 minutes as we had a train to catch. Most of our order arrived a couple of minutes after that there was a main missing which we were told we didn't order and then told it wasn't on the menu and then as if by magic it arrived and once I tasted it, I wished it hadn't! My onion bahji was raw in the middle the curries were all terrible. I tried to speak to the manger who first said everything was cooked as it should be until I showed him a cook bahji from a friends plate at which point he tried to shout me down and asked me if I wanted to eat for free. I made clear I didn't want to eat anything or pay for any of the food after 2 hours we paid for our drinks and left. I tried to warn incoming diners as I had been warned, much like I did they ignored...
Read moreI can absolutely recommend Panas for their lovely service, delicious and rich food, and value for money.
Our first visit was just before Christmas 2023. It was lovely to see the restaurant get busier as the evening went on, eventually to a full house. With this in mind, the staff were on top of everything, keeping a great level of service to the table and their warm manner towards everybody.
We were pleasantly full and managed to take some of our leftovers home with us. We had a selection of well-flavoured dishes, particularly enjoying the Panas Chicken starter, a couple of the Biriyanis and various curries. You could differentiate between the curries as well. Sometimes you'll order 3 or 4 different ones and not really get much variation. Not so at Panas!
We had such a warm welcome, incredible food and a delightful night that we returned again in February for a birthday meal.
Not only all this, but given the London-outskirts location and the level of food and service, we thought prices were very reasonable!
Parking is available at York House Car Park across the road (a 1 minute walk) and I think prices were reasonable for the evening (if not free?)
Can't wait for another excuse to visit....
Read moreVery poor customer service and tremendously long waiting times. 5 of us went for a curry on a Saturday evening about 8pm, the place was about 2/5 full. Drinks took over 10 mins to come, they forgot our poppadoms and it was approx an hour and a quarter until our mains came. The food was warm (not hot) and they mixed up some rice and bread orders. Other tables were all looking around to see if anyone else had food, some tables complained and the owner responded by saying that an hour wait is usual at a fine dining place for example. This is no fine dining though. Two groups of people got up and walked out. No one primed us the kitchen was busy (despite half the restaurant being empty), no one apologised for the delay, and no one even cleaned away our plates after our starter or came to offer more drinks. Shambles from start to finish. Food was nice but the evening was ruined with a restaurant full of complaints and an oblivious manager. We won't be...
