Tsaretta has launched a new Friday-Saturday Indian Tapas Bottomless Brunch that transported my tastebuds on an incredible journey across India's diverse flavors. At £39.50 per person including endless Prosecco, it proved to be a superb value for the quality and quantity of food. The brunch featured an array of mini yet satisfying tapas spanning classic and contemporary Indian cuisine. Standouts included the crispy fish fingers with refreshing lemon/carom seasoning, perfectly fried cauliflower florets bathed in a moreish Manchurian sauce. In between tapas, servers brought out pillowy naan bread sandwiches oozing with spiced fillings like chicken tikka and paneer. The Vada Pav, known as India's "chip butty", provided the ideal vegetarian snack with its spiced potato patty. While the savory dishes shined, I couldn't get enough of the sweet finale - the warm, syrupy gulab jamun dough balls with vanilla ice cream. The generous pour of bottomless bubbly paired flawlessly with the complex layers of flavors. What truly made the experience stand out was the wonderful service from staff members Sandip and Syed. Their attentiveness and charm added a layer of hospitality that perfectly complemented the cuisine. Tsaretta's playful yet polished take on Indian tapas in a modern setting made for an extraordinary brunch affair. The courteous staff and chef's artful presentation elevated the experience further. I'd highly recommend the new bottomless brunch to experience Tsaretta's unique culinary perspective on Indian cuisine. Just be sure to...
Read moreFor a tapas restaurant one wouldn't expect a table to be set for a 3 course meal. As a result our table was too small to easily accommodate the various dishes we ordered.
We ordered a collection of vegetarian items, which were decent. The Manchurian cauliflower was nice but then we noticed that two other dishes ( Crispy Chilli Aubergine, Mushroom and Soya Tikki) had exactly the same sauce. The Achari Paneer Tikka was competent but lacked the distinct charry taste of a tandoor. The Asparagus Makai Croquettes and Thoran were delicately balanced.
The restaurant sits at the finale of this boutique street featuring various pubs, eateries and shops. Having walked past it several times in the summer (when Al Fresco dining seems to be on offer) and the street vibe is buzzing, the restaurant looks a decent shout. We booked on a cold January evening and and so having sat inside one got exposed to the bland interior decor which comes across dispassionately objective.
The service was clinically efficient.
The menu reads nice but the restaurant could do away with some of the items if they can't be distinguished. The wine selection is palatable. Even though the experience value-for-money is competent for the area, one feels that this restaurant is trying to be different but still not commiting one hundred percent to the cause of setting it apart from the other Indian eateries in the area. Considering this is prime location, the management should take note. Its the finer...
Read moreIt was the aroma cloud - a heady mix of rich Indian spices - that literally led us to Tsaretta Spice by the nose!
The chef is a true maestro of flavour, his command of spices was nothing short of artistic. Each element is chosen not merely to season, but to elevate - spices that sing in harmony, enhancing and exalting one another with graceful precision.
We ordered the iconic thali, a vibrant tapestry of dishes drawn from the Indian subcontinent- a cuisine as richly layered as the history that shaped it. Indian cuisine is not a monolith but an evolving dialogue between civilisations: the opulence of the Mughals, the aromatic legacy of the Persians, and regional diversity that continues to define its soul.
To cook with spices and herbs at this level is to possess an extraordinarily experienced and sensitivity palate - and not just to heat and flavour. Timing here owes nothing to the clock watching: it is about the eyes, the touch, the nose. The chef builds flavour as a perfumer crafts a scent-layer by layer, note by note, until the final composition lingers like a memory.
We have since been several times for special or impromptu occasions, every time greeted warmly by the attentive staff who remembered us. Tsaretta Spice will always be a special treat for us to return to, and highly recommended to visitors and locals in the...
