I visited here on a Sunday for lunch and was impressed with the dining experience. The Eel Pie pub really did an amazing job with keeping up with health and safety measures - hand sanitisers were easily accessible, customers were asked to take their own food and drink off the trays when brought over, tables were spaced out. Staff were also friendly, helpful, and mindful of the social distancing measure put in place. Most importantly though, the food was well executed. I'm always very cautious of ordering a Sunday Roast because of the varying results you get - too often I have gotten beef that ends up being well done. I was not disappointed with ordering this at The Eel Pie pub. The beef was cooked incredibly well, Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were nicely done - all in all it was good value for money. I did end up using my partner's beef pie gravy instead of the one that came with the roast though - it was too delicious not to. Would order...
Read moreService was really bad. There was a table booked for Nick at 3:30 today and my sister and i sat down as it was 2:25. Waiter walked past us so many times, we first asked was it okay if we sit here for now as the table was reserved and the pub was full so the guy said okay but make sure u leave before the reserved time which we had no issue with. Then my sis asked for a menu so we could see what drinks and food they have since we are foreigners and the guy told us i suggest you dont order any food because the people booked out the whole area and walked away. This was super annoying because firstly we were an hr before the booked table and secondly we just wanted to see what we could order because we actually only just wanted a hot choc and coffee. We obviously left because the guy was so rude and never brought the menu anyway. Wouldnt...
Read moreFood portions are generous and good selection of beers. Service at bar quite disappointing - there’s an older blonde lady who just kept looking over and ignoring me (pretending not to have seen me and did not want to serve me but preferred chatting with others). The same can be said about the younger blonde guy - he acknowledged me at the bar and just carried on chatting and was not really motivated in wanting to serve me at the bar. This is when it was not so busy either. Suddenly three other punters walk in and both members of bar staff are quick to ensure that they are served. It had a bit of a xenophobic vibe in there sadly due to the staff and I felt excluded upon entering…all pubs I go to are usually so welcoming and friendly…never felt like that anywhere else in the UK. It’s actually sad I had to write this up but it needs to...
