I visited here on a Sunday for lunch and was impressed with the dining experience. The Eel Pie pub really did an amazing job with keeping up with health and safety measures - hand sanitisers were easily accessible, customers were asked to take their own food and drink off the trays when brought over, tables were spaced out. Staff were also friendly, helpful, and mindful of the social distancing measure put in place. Most importantly though, the food was well executed. I'm always very cautious of ordering a Sunday Roast because of the varying results you get - too often I have gotten beef that ends up being well done. I was not disappointed with ordering this at The Eel Pie pub. The beef was cooked incredibly well, Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were nicely done - all in all it was good value for money. I did end up using my partner's beef pie gravy instead of the one that came with the roast though - it was too delicious not to. Would order this again :)

Themed after the famous '60s music venue on Eel Pie Island nearby (although it's not there any more), this pub is chock-full of music memorabilia - it's a great place for music lovers of a certain age to have a pint - and there is a nice selection of real ales for the connoisseurs. The food isn't bad, either - certainly much better than the Barmy Arms just a bit further up; the steak and ale pie had a shortcrust base and puff pastry top - very tasty. The mashed potato seemed like it might have been made from a packet (as it is in a lot of pubs, unfortunately). The red cabbage made a nice vegetable side. A little pot of gravy on the side was quickly drained. Overall, was it worth £15? I've had a lot better, but it was a good evening out, I'll give it that.

Spent a lovely afternoon here to send off a retired colleague. Staff were really helpful, courteous and welcoming. We started with the lamb kofte skewers with raita, mint and pomegranate molasses and bbq glazed chicken wings to share. Lovely flavours! For mains we had their chicken and ham hock pie with buttery mash, gravy, savoy cabbage, peas and bacon. My colleague had a chargrilled flat iron steak with grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, lemon and tarragon butter, watercress and fries. Excellent stuff. All the food arrived at the same time. Their food was amazing quality, tasty, inspiring, fresh and plentiful, service was wonderful, wish it was my local! Highly recommended!

Service was really bad. There was a table booked for Nick at 3:30 today and my sister and i sat down as it was 2:25. Waiter walked past us so many times, we first asked was it okay if we sit here for now as the table was reserved and the pub was full so the guy said okay but make sure u leave before the reserved time which we had no issue with. Then my sis asked for a menu so we could see what drinks and food they have since we are foreigners and the guy told us i suggest you dont order any food because the people booked out the whole area and walked away. This was super annoying because firstly we were an hr before the booked table and secondly we just wanted to see what we could order because we actually only just wanted a hot choc and coffee. We obviously left because the guy was so rude and never brought the menu anyway. Wouldnt...

Food portions are generous and good selection of beers. Service at bar quite disappointing - there’s an older blonde lady who just kept looking over and ignoring me (pretending not to have seen me and did not want to serve me but preferred chatting with others). The same can be said about the younger blonde guy - he acknowledged me at the bar and just carried on chatting and was not really motivated in wanting to serve me at the bar. This is when it was not so busy either. Suddenly three other punters walk in and both members of bar staff are quick to ensure that they are served. It had a bit of a xenophobic vibe in there sadly due to the staff and I felt excluded upon entering…all pubs I go to are usually so welcoming and friendly…never felt like that anywhere else in the UK. It’s actually sad I had to write this up but it needs to...
