From a few weeks ago: AVOID! Experiencing Racial Discrimination at Lidl Oldbrook - SHOCKING! Location: Lidl, Oldbrook, Milton Keynes, MK6 2YA Date of Visit: 19/07/2025
I am writing this review to warn others about the appalling and discriminatory experience my Chinese family endured at the Lidl Oldbrook store on July 19, 2025. This was not just bad customer service; it was a clear case of racial bias and outright hostility from an employee named Shannon.
From the moment we interacted with Shannon, her attitude was aggressively rude and unprofessional. She repeatedly rolled her eyes and maintained a contemptuous tone, making it clear we were unwelcome. The situation escalated dramatically when I attempted to purchase a can of Red Bull. Despite being clearly over 16, presenting valid photo identification, and being accompanied by my parents (both over 40), Shannon inexplicably refused the sale. Even more shockingly, she then baselessly refused to sell the same item to my parents, who were also of legal age, doing so with an incredibly hostile and dismissive demeanor.
The disrespect continued after we had spent nearly £100 in the store. Shannon abruptly and rudely ordered us to "move the trolley" before we had even finished packing our groceries. This aggressive command, delivered with such contempt, was designed to rush and humiliate us.
It became painfully obvious that Shannon's entire hostile attitude and actions were specifically directed at us because we are a Chinese family. Her interactions with other customers in the queue, who did not appear to be East Asian, were noticeably less hostile and more professional. Her baseless refusal to sell items, despite valid ID, suggests her actions were driven by prejudice and stereotypes, not actual store policy. We were singled out, profiled, and made to feel profoundly unwelcome purely because of our ethnicity. This is a blatant violation of the Equality Act 2010 and created an incredibly hostile and distressing environment.
This experience was deeply disturbing and unacceptable. No customer should ever face such overt discrimination. Lidl needs to seriously address the racial bias evident in their staff's conduct. I urge others to be aware of this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery bad experience today with a member of staff in this Lidl. Almost every day I pop in on my lunch break to buy my groceries. I was in the hurry because of the limited time. Very nice customers offered me to go front of the line and pay my stuff, because I had only few items. I paid quickly but I thought been charged too much. I went outside and calculated my items total cost and find out the lady at the till overcharged me, short blonde hair and lot of tattoos on her arms. I went back to her with the items and the receipt and told her about this issue. She was very arrogant and rude and told me no overcharge on the receipt. I told her I'm in a rush because my lunch break is over in few minutes she said" just calm down" with a calm down hand sign. I was shocked for her behaviour and also other customers around me clearly thought the same. She called her manager and he sorted out the issue in no time. Yes she scanned one item twice and the manager apologised for the inconvenience. I never had any issues with anybody in this Lidl before everybody was helpful. It would be nice if this lady could get some extra customer service training because she clearly doesn't know how to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI come here because it's 40 seconds away from my house. It's convenient. Some awesome products. Semi clean. Great place to head to If you feel like being falsely accused of shop lifting then this is the place for you. Customer service is 50/50 depending who you get. As a repeat, almost daily customer you'd expect to be recognised and you'd think the staff would be familiar with who you are. Sadly not. Biggest disappointment would have to be the sad excuse for a security guard who coughs uncontrolably into his mask. (Thankfully) He will accuse you of shop lifting with out any decent proof. I suppose to make it seem like he is doing his job. Not only can such accusations be embarrassing but also damaging to your reputation as someone who is from the area. Managment doesn't seem to be very bothered about the lack of professionalism from this man. Perhaps a refresher on how to spot shop...
