I’ve been shopping at the Morrisons by CMR Railway for a long time, and I’ve reached the point where I’m genuinely fed up with how badly this store is being run. The hot food and deli counter are a complete disgrace. Every single time I visit, it’s the same story — understaffed, slow, and totally chaotic. There’s usually one poor person left to deal with a queue of customers while everyone else, including managers, just walk by and pretend not to notice. It’s frustrating, disrespectful, and completely avoidable.
What’s worse is that this isn’t some random bad day. It’s every day. This has been happening for months, which tells me management either doesn’t care or isn’t competent enough to fix the problem. There’s no sense of urgency, no accountability, and no visible leadership. The people on the counter are doing their best, but they’re clearly stressed, overworked, and getting no real pay. It’s painful to watch because they’re the ones taking the complaints, while the managers seem invisible.
I’ve also noticed how slow they are to restock, clean up, or even acknowledge waiting customers. It’s like the deli and hot food sections are just an afterthought to whoever’s running this store. The result? Long queues, cold food, and cheesed of customers walking away. You can feel the frustration in the air. And every time, I think: How is this acceptable for a national supermarket chain?
Management needs to take a serious look at what’s going wrong here. This isn’t a staffing “blip” — it’s chronic mismanagement. If a store can’t even staff its basic service counters properly, it says everything about how little the leadership values both its customers and its employees.
I’ve stopped even bothering with the hot food and deli counter now. It’s not worth the hassle or the wait. Until Morrisons actually fixes this problem — not with excuses, but with proper management — I’ll be shopping elsewhere. A store that treats its customers and staff like this doesn’t...
Read moreDon't bother trying to shop here after 4pm, short staffed and very low stock level on shelves.
Worst experience of all is waiting 15 minutes at the pizza counter to be served, being ignored by staff members only to ask and find out that one staff member is serving the pizza, deli, and butcher's counters at that time.
This is not fair on the staff, nor the customers especially given the level of contamination in food and allergies from between counters. When the staff aren't trained properly on all 3 counters and don't always wash their hands before serving.
As we are anaphylactic to all types of nuts, and there is peanut satay on the deli counter I asked if the staff could put a pair of gloves on before making my pizza as he didn't wash his hands. He went for 7 minutes looking for some, as they don't have any behind the counter?
Either retrain staff so they always wash their hands, or use a gloved policy when switching between counters. Also up the staffing levels and most managers apart from Adam are rude along with the pushy lady on customer services who asks you to say she's done well on a receipt review when she does not do anything out of the ordinary.
EDIT - Adding to this, we have on multiple occasions has to bring items back, or being the attention of staff that the food date rotation is very poor. Quite often find foodstuffs out of date even as far...
