Lovely park great for kids adults dogs everyone. One side had a junior football match being played. So I walked my dogs on the other side around the football pitch and down a wheelchair friendly path to walk along the river side. There were plenty of seats as I find it difficult to walk but the dogs need walking. The benches were a welcome break. Plenty of bird life in the wooded areas even got to see both a green and a great spotted woodpecker. Along with about 30 other species of birds. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the dog poop, I even witnessed a lady with a friend and 8 dogs, all friendly and happy dogs, one of the dogs pooped in front of her and she just walked around it. I asked if she wanted a bag as I always carry plenty of extra rolls of bags, I picked it up but this lady, that's the norm doesn't deserve to have dogs. Have a dog pick up the poop. There were plenty of poop bins dotted around the park I only walked the football fields side and noticed 5 or 6 dog poop bins and used 3 of them picking up after my 2 and the one dirty lady who wouldn't? Why are these people never caught. A beautiful area, a jewel in the crown of Newark spoilt by just one or two inconsiderate people who shot it for all dog owners/walkers. I'll be back again next time i visit and perhaps get to see more of the...

I have visited this beautiful park daily for the past few months in order to walk my dog. Unfortunately a few days ago my dog was attacked by an Alsatian or Belgian Shepherd and as my dog is non aggressive he ran off as he really doesn’t understand this behaviour. The owners of this dog - a couple perhaps in their 30s - were completely dismissive saying ‘ oh there are some dogs he doesn’t like !’ I’m ashamed to say I did not challenge them at the time - however in my defence I walk alone and there were no other dog walkers around to help. Since that day my beautiful friendly lovable 8 year old - after a few wobbly days is now back to being himself. I wouldn’t wish this awful experience on any others, so my mission in life is to say beware! There are very few if any nasty dogs - it’s the owners who must accept responsibility. So if you’re dog ‘ might not like some other dogs’ then perhaps a lead or muzzle is most definitely required. I’ve told every other dog walker that I meet to be careful and be very aware. In conclusion this has not put me off this lovely park however I’m forever alert watching out for this dog and it’s completely ...

Looks massive online and we were under the impression that we could spend a long time there, exploring what was on offer. This was not the case however and there was a lot less there than what we were expecting.

If you were to bring your own entertainment, such as a football etc you could spend a happy couple of hours there along with making use of the park and walking around the park/orchard.

We did plan to visit the rumbles cafe for lunch, however there was a protest outside which made the decision for us to drive elsewhere to find some food.

The park is very clean, and you can tell it has been well looked after. Interesting to see the Queen's sconce, love learning a...

Great park and play area within a historical settlement/ruins site. Seperate area for younger kids with the main section for the older kids. Plenty of room to run around etc. Small cafe on site ran by volunteers. Drinks etc priced a little steep but I guess it's high rent on that location. Average to lower price for the general parks/ tourism place set ups though . Park is generally clean. Dogs can visit. At the back of the park there's a football pitch and small river walk along the other. Small parking area available. Historical events held every year with free entry. Photos taken from a local reenactment.

Myself and my mother came here to see the spectacular tour de britain!! 2024 on the 6/9/24 .... It was absolutely brilliant! with a little cycling village and kids entertainment and food and drink stalls made it a great action packed day for everyone! 🚴🚴🚴😎👍 Also met ITV sports presenter matt barbet! 😲😃 Ps its also a great family 🏞️ park also with a nice full time café and kids play equipment. 😃

Nice park, which we attended to participate in parkrun, not a lot of planting mostly grass with a couple of football pitches, the river Devon runs along the length and a mound which is the Queen’s sconce, remains of the sconce (sconce is Dutch for fort) stands with a sculpture of a cannon on it. There is car park which has a voluntary donation meter and a community cafe which is run by volunteers
