Stoke-on-Trent is one of those remarkable and rare places which oozes artistic talent. You can feel it in the air. Talent and skill is embedded in its locals who have been creating gorgeous artwork for centuries, making something out of nothing, the Pottery Industry being the catalyst.
The artists of Stoke-on-Trent are, of course, part of that much bigger picture - British Art. What better place, then, to showcase these artistic skills than in a beautiful, bright, airy art gallery in the area?
Trent Art opened their stunning new gallery at the end of 2016 to celebrate and display high quality Modern British Artists. The inviting, well-lit and significant space has been completely refurbished from its former run-down retail use. No expense appears to have been spared to bring the gallery up to a very high standard. Vast pale-coloured walls with modern hanging systems show pieces to their best advantage.
Both natural light, from the huge street-front windows, and clever state-of-the-art spot and flood lighting illuminate the paintings to remarkable effect. Multi levels, varying floor coverings and quirky corners add to the interest of the gallery which also boasts a framing service. It’s not just a paintings warehouse.
Business partners Ruth Palmer and Henry Birks have planned, executed and realised their dream to open a gallery of the highest quality here. All artwork is for sale and at sensible prices. If you collect art then put the Trent Art Gallery on your bucket list.
Visiting the gallery is a pleasure and the buying experience is second to none. Ruth and Henry make you feel instantly welcome and you are not under any pressure to buy. Visitors are welcome to browse and enjoy the raw talent. You can feel...
Read moreWe first went to see Ruth and Henry, the proprietors of Trent Art, in June this year. We had recently bought an original piece of art, 'The Joker' by an up and coming artist, Donna Murphy @ art by Diz, which we wanted framing. Ruth and Henry have a great eye and patiently and enthusiastically assisted us to pick a fabulous frame and mount that complemented the portrait beautifully (see photograph). We were thrilled with the quality of the finished article and couldn't thank them enough for their input We again visited Ruth and Henry in September, with a project I thought would give them a bit of a headache. I have a complete set (66 in total) of The Beatles Yellow Submarine Anglo bubble gum collectors cards from 1965. These cards have individual scenes from the movie on one side and on the other, they are tiles, which make a mural depicting a promotional poster for the movie. The cards are valuable and I wanted them mounting to display the mural, without damaging the cards on the opposite side and therefore preserving the integrity and value of the items..... A stiff task indeed Again Ruth and Henry were beyond helpful and full of fantastic ideas. Having tried a number of options, frames, mounts etc, we settled on a lattice, which created 66 pockets for the cards to nestle in.... Obviously new ground for all of us, but the final result was beyond our expectations.... I would have no hesitation in recommending and endorsing Trent Art I think the pieces speak for themselves Thank...
