When a short walk in a beautiful area is preferred to a longer stroll thru Jesmond Dene, Paddy Freeman's really is ideal. It's just a shame Newcastle council has indeed placed a tax on these beautiful areas by charging us to park our cars there, we even pay a daily parking charge to park outside the Doctors surgery picking up vital daily meditation. These parking charges restrict our freedom and make each council a small fortune every day of the year. It doesn't spoil the places but it kind of places a tax on our freedom and that's more of a communist approach rather than the democratic one we supposedly live in. Conservative government failures have brought us to this point. A failed economy and so many cuts have forced councils to look at these measures just to claw back what they can. The conservative party has led most of us down a path of misery and poverty and that's not to mention the absolute farce in selecting prime ministers that have made us all the laughing stock of the rest of the world. Remember that we did not say in the Tory leadership, and after all of this madness I'm afraid to say it is not going to improve at all. If this Tory government remains in power then the good people of this once great land will face a devastating future and quite possibly a civil war! And it all begins with restrictions on our freedom, what next? As it stands, North Korean citizens have only just a little less freedom than we do and dare I say a stronger government than we do who are respected more than we are! So what's...

You can fish for tadpoles in the pond with small nets, they used to sell them in the park shop. Also theres a massive football field and tennis courts with a path around leading into Jesmond dene and right through to Heaton park. Theirs a waterfall an old mill and some ancient ruins in and...
Read moreNice, fairly clean and open park with large field suitable for ball games, modern children's playground and lake which attracts a number of birds (ducks in particular). Overall it could perhaps do with some investment to improve facilities for team sports and the car park is a too small to cope with demand in summer, but as urban parks go there are far worse and it's nice to see any green space in large cities that isn't built on in large cities these days as an ever-increasing amount of green belt land is given over to housing developments.
N.B. The lake is fairy shallow but nevertheless dangerous for...
