It's... OK. It was significantly better when it was Dene & Daniela's. The service has got much slower (especially for takeaway - it can take an inordinate amount of time) and the prices have gone up (and feel very steep for what it is). The coffee is nice and I highly recommend the spiced D&D sandwich, but apart from that, some of the ther food I've had has been really disappointing. Today's "salad" was chicken and pesto pasta, but much of the pasta is dry and undercooked, and there's hardly any flavour. I could have got a better pasta salad with drink and snack from the Coop round the corner for £3.50, whereas here they charged £6.75 just for a small tub without anything else. I've really tried to give them several chances since they reopened under a new name, but it's so disappointing and expensive now, I'm giving up and moving on.

Myself and a friend visited Deer in the Dene for the 1st time this morning. We will definitely be back! We were served very promptly by the lovely welcoming staff. My friend had a caramel latte and full English breakfast, I had an iced caramel coffee and the small breakfast. Everything was beautiful. The place itself is big and roomy, decorated very nicely, with comfortable seating and the overall atmosphere is fab. There is also outdoor seating. Can't wait to try other amazing looking things on offer here soon!

Lovely new local brunch addition. We tried the small full English and we were quite impressed with the sausage - one of the best we ever tried! The mushroom was nice too. However, the fried eggs were both a bit overly cooked and the bacon was a bit cold. The place is cosy and has a nice atmosphere with some lovely cakes. We tried the lemon cake and it was tasty and fresh. Coffee is not bad either and it's dog friendly as well 😉

A few years ago we were so impressed by Dean and Danielas that when we were visiting our local relatives 80th birthday we booked a table for 8 today. The service from start to finish was absolutely appalling and unfortunately we will never be returning. We had also for Xmas given our local relatives gift vouchers for Dean and Danielas. I don’t know if the staff that run it have now changed but we have never been so rudely talked to, our plates were dirty, we tread in food on the floor left from previous customers, our order was messed up, the cakes were stale, the pizza was tasteless. We were told that the bruschetta could have the cherry tomatoes taken off for the children but then were told they had to have them- which created a tearful situation for younger members of the family. When we said we had booked a table for 8 the staff member glared at us and took us to a table with 3 seats and then told us to find other chairs! When we pointed out the plates were dirty they didn’t even apologise and it was made very clear that everybody was an inconvenience to them. We have never written a google review before but don’t want someone else to experience what we just did. A smile and politeness cost nothing and we were made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable on what should have been a family...

It's like a Costa or a Starbucks without the overly pretentious coffees and even more ostentatious clientele. There are blissfully asleep toddlers (thankfully) with their yummy mummies as well as retired folk, and everyone in between; which says a lot of the type of place this is. Food on offer is not extensive but filling enough if you know what to order. I had the Rustic Chicken sandwich in a toasted ciabatta roll with a Mocha. It was filling enough for me even with my enormous appetite and only came to just over £7. I sat and read a book in the corner for almost 2 hours. Time passed quickly as I was not harassed by the staff or indeed by anyone talking loudly into their mobile phone or across the table as though they were sat a mile apart! My only quibble is the chocolate lying unperturbed at the bottom of my mocha. Parking is available on either side of the street outside but please respect the time limits, which are different depending on which side of the street, or get a parking ticket. And please don't be like the idiot who blocked someone's drive (Who said...

Been a customer for the last 16 years and have never had a complaint but unfortunately the new owner has upset me.

Ordered 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches to sit in and was told it was takeaway only. No problem, paid and walked out the door, lots of empty tables outside and thought it would be ok to eat our sandwich’s on one of the plastic table out of takeaway cartons. Owner rudely approached me and my partner stating “we had ordered takeaway sandwiches but are sitting in”. I explained we tried to pay to sit in but were unable to.

I would not usually see an issue, but considering there is an increase in price for sit ins, it felt that the owner was implying we had purposely ordered takeaway sandwiches with the intention of paying less. This was not the case. We also had to ask the owner who they were as they never introduced themself when confronting us- as far as we aware it was a random customer who had approached us. It was an unwelcoming experience and I have never been treat this way before. I will not be returning...
