We are so privileged to have a real classy bakery here in Oswestry and Adam, a semi-finalist in the 2019 series of Channel 4’s ‘Bake Off is a true professional.
The Black Gate previously a pub is a beautiful Grade II 400 year old listed historical building and can be dated back even more to before 1620's or so.... Full of beams and wonky floors and walls, it is simply stunning.
Warmly decorated, relaxing and inviting atmosphere with classic music in the background makes your visit here very enjoyable and special.
Niche Patisserie started up here in 2020 and so good to see that it's thriving... My stunning freshly baked "cinnamon swirl" was out of this world, deliciously perfect along with my tasty Latte coffee.
A family business which should be very proud of what they have achieved here at Niche Patisserie, The Black Gate in Oswestry.
A warm welcome and very friendly, smiling service by Samantha at the counter makes one feel totally relaxed and right at home.
Highly recommend this bakery, restaurant and one of the best selection of patisseries ever...all freshly baked on a daily basis..
A big thank you to mom Samantha and son, Adam the master Baker, well done! Will most certainly be popping in more...

Booked for a friend's special Birthday celebrations having read some of the previous reviews. So glad we booked in advance as all the tables were occupied. We had the sumptuous velvet sofa and chairs near the old range. It was comfortable and very soon had our tea at the table. They have a good selection from English Breakfast and Earl Grey to Peppermint and fruit infusions as well as coffee.
Our savoury selection arrived and the finger sandwiches were moist and delicious and the quiche and sausage roll delicious with beautiful pastry. They were so nice we forgot to take any photos.
We had fresh crockery and then the warm scones and cakes arrived. All of the individual cakes were described as well as where the cream came from (Cheshire) the jam is made in house and the quality of all the ingredients shines through.
We were made to feel very welcome by Sam and the other lovely front of house lady and were never rushed.
The bread and baked goods in the shop looked absolutely delicious and we will definitely be returning to sample more in the future. Oswestry has an absolute gem on The Black...
