I come to this library a lot because it's one of the closest places for me to work. However today (just three hours ago), I faced an unbelievable discriminatory behaviour by another female reader who was very rude, hostile and commanding over me due something completely ridiculous. She commanded and talked to me as if I was a person of lower class, mocking me in what she was asking me to do. It completely ruined my day and caused me to have a panic attack and exit the library, while the female reader faced nothing and was still doing her work as normal after what she did to me.
Completely unacceptable to allow entitled and rude readers like her to emotionally and verbally assault others, which makes the library an uncomfortable space for some students like me. It's very sad that discriminative incidents like this happen at the University of Oxford, and it is not the first time that I have witnessed something like this. Read moreA few hours ago, while I was trying to do my work I was rudely interrupted by this man’s disgusting burping noise. A man who obviously has ab access to the library was there watching something using one of the computers and laughing, making weirdest noises and burping ceaselessly. After a while I had to leave and saw him almost laying on the chair with her crocs next to the desk! How people can be this selfish in public, let alone in a library!
