Escape Reading — Attraction in Reading

I absolutely love escape rooms, and I'm always thrilled to find one where the attention to detail is exceptional. I chose Age of Magic, and WOW, it was fantastic! You can see why it took 2 years to build the room!

I wanted an escape room experience that I could share with my family who were visiting from America, who had never tried one before, and this one ticked all the boxes.

I've never encountered an escape room that adjusts the puzzles based on the participants, WHILE playing. We had an 8-year-old, a 12-year-old, and three adults, and everything was seamlessly tailored to suit everyone, ensuring we could all enjoy the escape.

A huge thank you to Tom for being so accommodating, especially since I booked at the last minute. He was very flexible and even moved our game to an earlier slot without any issues.

From the outside, you wouldn't guess the magical world you're about to enter in Age of Magic. The photo at the end (my favourite from any escape room), the souvenir given to my niece, and the fridge magnet were all delightful touches that made the experience even more special.

We all absolutely loved it, and we had so much fun. I also really enjoyed the puzzles, as everyone was able to work on different ones at the same time.

We did the Age of Magic room today as a family of 4 (youngest is 12). On pulling up to Escape Reading it is very understated from the outside and I was a bit concerned it would be pants. I needn’t have worried.

The lighting of the entrance hall entertained the kids on arrival, the briefing room was comfortable and Owen was knowledgeable and friendly throughout - he gave a very detailed briefing and introduction for the game. A great host.

The room was brilliant, after the quick story intro we had to wait a couple of minutes for our eyes to get accustomed to the low light which added to the fun. I’ve done a couple of escape rooms before but this felt and looked different. So much thought has gone into the design of the room and it was great that all of us were able to figure out different clues along the way. The puzzles varied in difficulty and theme which kept everyone engaged throughout.

When hints were needed they were either hidden within the room or given along with the room ‘music’ which was brilliant as it added to the suspense.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will do another family trip to Escape...

Visited here for a friend's birthday and did the Age of Magic room.

Was able to book fairly late (booked early afternoon for a 7:30pm booking) and they were more than accommodating despite the late notice.

Upon arrival Matt, who hosted our game, was very friendly and did a good briefing and game introduction.

The room itself was great - probably one of the best rooms I have been to. It is clear that a lot of effort has gone into the design of the room and it was incredibly engaging. The puzzles were well crafted and, despite requiring some thinking/observation they weren't overly vague or obtuse. There was great variety in terms of the types of puzzles seen in the room and there was plenty for everyone in our group of 4 to get fully involved.

The way hints were given was non-intrusive too which was a nice touch. They felt embedded into the room rather than just having someone come over a speaker with it. So it was clear just how much thought had gone into the room design.
