Bow Guest House — Hotel in Reading

The only good thing about the Bow Guest House is that the owners were nice and friendly. The heater didn't work in the room. We asked for help twice to get it to come on. It came on briefly and then turned off again. It was so cold in the room. The bathroom was cold and outdated. The shower was in awful condition and there were no amenities provided. We didn't think we had hot water so once again asked for help. To our surprise you had to turn the knob to cold to get the hot water. We could hear every step that was made above us due to the squeaky floors. Walls were thin and conversations could be heard. We had access to an additional kitchen. There were old vegetables in the cabinet, a dirty pot on the counter with something still in it and the refrigerator smelled awful. The breakfast was minimal. We looked at leaving after one night but decided to tough it out. Absolutely the worst choice we have made while...

We arrived at Bow guest house and was met at the back of the house by a nice man who took us in the back way as soon as we entered there was rubbish on the stairs , the carpet was tired and dirty, we went into the office to pay but I asked to see the room first, thank god we did we were taken down grotty stairs to a dark dingy room where you couldn't see out of the window for dirt, the furniture was very old with tea rings on it , the beds yuk, not clean then we asked re bathroom and that was discussing but the man did say it was for our use only but it was down the hall, I asked for a minuet on our own where we all agreed NOT TO STAY !! The dining room was dark and not clean and to top it all it stank of curry, I love curry but not in my bedrooms etc I can't put into words just how bad it was how the council allowed them to run a b & b...

This place should be shut down. It is disgusting in cleanliness...the streets are much cleaner. There are stains all over the carpet, walls n curtains...damp on walls. Kettle plug fell apart ...there was a fly under a tea cup. Stinks of urine.. absolutely disgusted. They are not even doing breakfast yet getting paid for it...they did not even change the bed just remade it with a the week old same bedding. Did not service the room at all apart from sweeping floor with dust pan n brush n not even under bed. I would not let an animal sleep in this place! Takes about 20 minutes trying to lock the door as lock not working correctly!...have photos and going to report this further. You would of thought it was covid clean n sanitised....no way! You would probably catch...
