It was worth waiting for the opening of the Imperial Chapel. If you are passionate about history, especially the history of France and what the 2nd Empire represented, it is worth going and visiting this place. And if you are lucky enough to have nice weather, you won't regret it. The monk, who was our guide, was up to the task and open to any questions from those who were present. This year I also managed to make it to Les Invalides to see the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte, the first emperor of France. Pity that the French government does not make the moral reparation of repatriating the remains of Napoleon III, especially for the contribution he made to the development of the modern French state. The abbey is not financially supported by the French government, so a donation is more than welcome.

Absolutely stunning place and abundance of history. I went on a tour on 31.08.2019. The guild was very professional, passionate and knowledgeable. Hats off to the guild’s voluntary service. The visit to the crypt was somewhat sad to see Prince Imperial depart at such early age. But the fact that Queen Victoria has given the Prince Imperial a place in Windsor Castle explains the strong bonding between the two royal families. Very well kept and tucked away from the busy town centre. The gargoyle are pretty unique.

You are likely to need to make an arrangement to visit. Do so. Both the church and the mausauleum in the crypt are fascinating. As is the history. Read up on Eugene and Napoleon III before you go.

Very disappointing. I tried to book a visit out of the normal guided tour on Saturdays as I could see in their website - "Visiting at other times

Individuals or groups who wish to visit the church and crypt should contact us, either by email or by telephone" - So I emailed and I haven't received any answer. I decided to call, and OMG! What a rude person over the phone. I asked politely if there was any possibility of visit the Abbey another day than Saturday and instead of saying "no sorry", she decided to shout at me and say the visits are exclusively on Saturdays. After that she hang up on me. Well, first of all, they should change the website and not make people believe that you can visit it another day. And secondly, don't bother going and giving any money. They have something amazing and historical there but ruined by incompetents. I won't be able to visit the Abbey or the tomb of Napoleon...
