It's ok, only because the local council has band drone use, which for a local council tax payer is very annoying.
However, the memorial park is a nice place to take the kids, there's a play park and some nice big fields. For me however it's the oasis of nature that it provides in such a busy built up area. An early morning visit (5am) or summer evening is a perfect time to spot the local resident deer population. There is also a nice duck pond, where you can see anything from a regular mallard, to an Egyptian goose and a kingfisher if your really lucky. Read moreThe Park has a balancing pond and walks both sides of the River Blackwater. Parking at the Council offices is adjacent to the fenced childrens play park. There is a 2mtre height restriction there and at the Rackstraws intersection car park. Pathways connect to the Meadows roundabout home of Tesco, M&S and railway station. Great walks. HOWEVER - right now if you leave the gravel paths be prepared for mud, mud glorious mud and puddles. Read moreGreat place to visit for all ages young and old. The playground has enough to keep the young ones entertained for hours and the older kids have their side too. There is a skate park and a football/basketball court open for all to enjoy. And for us adults the cafe is close by, followed by a lovely walk to the pond just around the corner. This place is great in the summer and does get busy but there's plenty of room to fit in. With the added bonus of public toilets on hand to.
