Only reviewing the yoga here.
The instructors are really lovely and great at doing excellent yoga. I feel super relaxed and stretched after. I really like the 90 minute classes as well, it’s a good amount of time and offered regularly.
My main issue is the venue.
It’s a terrible venue for yoga. It’s not too big so more than 4-6 in a class feels claustrophobic and you have to be conscious of bumping into other people. The room itself it’s filled with chalk dust as it’s really made for climbing. So expect to inhale a lot of chalk dust in, and to have some at the bottom of your mat. They don’t store mats blocks or any equipment so you need to bring your own. There’s no place to put your coats or bags unless you wanna leave it on the dusty floor. It doesn’t seem hoovered or brushed at all because there’s dustballs and hair all over the floor. There’s a single chair that everyone piles their belongings on. There’s no hooks or appropriate seating area to get off your shoes and coats and place, despite there being enough space for. Not to mention the smell, it’s unfortunate it really does smell like old socks in there. The smell is really distracting so difficult to focus on the yoga. Also it is freezing!! Especially in the evening classes. They have a heater which is loud and circulates warm smelly air but isn’t effective.
The only good thing about the venue for yoga is the view. It’s...
Read moreVery much become a wall for the tourists and kids. Setting is good but the rooms are extremely small so a regular climber would run out quite quickly. These rooms have zero ventination or fans and often get swarmed by kids groups.
The training board would be great but has been out of action for over 8 months despite many reminders from climbers (final straw for my membership) and also has no ventilation or fans. The wall also closes early on a weekend making afterwork training difficult for the regular climber and the training room is closed on a Wednesday evening also. And of course, this room will also often be swarmed with kids.
The membership cost is the last kick in the teeth...£50!! More than any gym I've ever climbed in in the cities. Even the comparable gyms such as Third ridge on skye - is only £35...Depot which covers multiple locations and pays for pro setters every 2 weeks - £39
Hopefully posting this actually makes some change happen. Until then it's outdoor climbing and the...
Read moreWhat can i say about this place !! if you love the outdoors but cant be bothered getting soaked, get on down to three wise monkeys ! the ever changing bouldering wall is always presenting new challenges. for the more technical challenges they have the rope wall which the excellent staff are always on hand to help or give advice. plus the addition on the new hi-tech training area, there is limited amount of opportunity to enhance your climbing skills !! After you have burnt yourself out and wanting to chill out their coffee and home baking is a absolute GAME CHANGER ! by far one of if not the best wee gems in the Lochaber area. So stop wasting your time reading my review get on down to three wise...
