I work in hospitality so I sympathise with waiters, bartenders and chefs and I understand that it’s a difficult job, hence why I never leave bad reviews or complain but on this occasion I left quite unhappy. We were sat quickly which was good and given our menus and time to browse, when we ordered our waitress had to disappear a few times during our order because she didn’t actually know what alc free cider, or cask ale was available and when my partner asked what the ale was like she just said she didn’t know, which is fine but would have been good if she asked someone but overall not a big deal. I ordered a starter; salmon pate, which arrived in 10 minutes (this is a good thing, I know Pates are quick to make to order we serve them at my work) and the bread it was served with was stale and lacked any taste at all, it ruined the pate for me and I couldn’t eat it. About 5 minutes after my starter plate was cleared our drinks arrived, after visibly sitting on the bar for a while being ignored by everyone. Our mains took a while to come but this is usual in hospitality when lunch picks up the kitchen gets busy and I don’t mind a wait at all. However, when our fish and chips came the chips were cold and half of them were wet from the peas not being drained properly. We decided not to order our desserts because we’d been there a long time already and didn’t want to wait much longer so we asked for the bill. They don’t give you any time to look at the bill before putting the card machine in your face and saying “tap here”. It was only after we paid we saw the 10% “discretionary” service charge on the bill. Something which I feel is only on there because they must not get a lot of tips otherwise… saving grace to this meal was the lady with short hair who brought our food out she was very sweet. I hope that the quality of food and service is improved in future, but as of now I won’t be coming back. Good luck...

Came in on a Saturday night without a reservation and was told that the waiting time for a table was around 45 minutes. It was very busy and other restaurants also had queues. The friendly hostess suggested having a drink in the bar and told us that she would call us when our table was ready. We sat down and had a pint. After a while the hostess checked in and asked if we wanted to eat in the bar as well. We didn't mind and a professional waiter (Henrik, apologies if the spelling in incorrect) brought us the menus. Mij travel companion ordered soup and stew an I haggis and mussels. The starters came very quickly and then there was a little glitch. A large group entered and their food was brought to their table before our mains were delivered. We informed Henrik and came back to our table with apologies and informed us that our food would be about ten to fifteen minutes. Other guest caming in after us got their food as well, so clearly they had forgotten our mains and Henrik had reminded them of our orders. No big problem. The restaurant and bar were packed and we had already finished our starters, so we weren't starving. And both the hostess and the waiter seemed to be in control on a very busy night. And more importantly, the mains were worth waiting for while we were in no rush. When settling the bill, we wanted to leave a tip, only to be told by Henrik that a 10% service charge was already added to the bill. So, very honest members of staff as well. So, the food was good, apart fromna small error, the service was immaculate and the bill (tip) included was less than £70 for a dinner of two, drinks included. So, we were satisfied and would highly recommend this restaurant. But maybe make a reservation first, especially in...

We stopped in here for a bite to eat, yesterday, but ended up walking out, as staff was quite rude and did not listen to a word we said, as we walked in we was asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, we said in we was then asked to wait while they cleared the table outside, so one of our party went outside to reiterate that we would like to sit indoors, the waitress then told us to follow her outside so once again we told her we would like to be seated indoors. We ordered some drinks, and was left for 10 minutes or so, the menu was not completely to our liking so ask for a few more minutes, but the waitress did not budge just stood at the end of the table so we felt very rushed to choose an item.

The few items that we would have chosen come with mash, but thought we could simply swap the mash for chips on these item, seems this is not the case, we got a strait out no, now 20 minutes into being seated and still waiting on drinks, we decided to find somewhere a little more acomadting, when we said we will leave it and cancel the drinks order as they sill had not turned up, the waitress then said she would ask about swapping the mash for chips, why not do that on the fist place, and why hover over us why we was looking at the menu still you could of got our drinks.

We declined the offer for her to find out, as that should have been her first reply. I feel bad as my son had been asking to eat in this place all week, but I do not think I have ever been in a place that treats its customers so poorly, especially in the catering sector.

So we'll done for loosing five hungry customers and perpetually few hundred pounds, with drinks and food.

The next pub was very much more helpful, you may want to ask then to...

First of all, the food was good. Muscle appetizer was amazing. A cozy bar with lots of energy. We placed drink and appetizer order quickly and soon followed with food order. Appetizer came out in 10 minutes. Then we waited and waited. Nobody checked on us, nobody asked if we need more drinks... We still waited. After 35 minutes we flagged someone down and got another drink order in. Then our we flagged our server and asked about the food, she came back in 1 minutes and said 4 more minutes... We waited again. After another 20 minutes we got up and asked someone if we could speak with the owner. At this point we had been waiting for food for 55 minutes. Then the food showed up. The owner approached and said he would talk after we finished eating. After the meal the owner apologized and said they were busy and the kitchen was backed up. He was very sorry. They were busy when we arrived but several tables had cleared and reseated and served so I know it wasn't the kitchen. I'm glad the owner didn't throw is inattentive server under the bus, but it was obvious it was her fault. The whole night she was more interested in joking with her coworkers, especially putting her hands on one who looked like a manager, than helping our table. Even when it was time to pay she had a poor attitude. If I go back I will not sit in her section, ever. Would have been more stars but one bad employee killed the review. (Cleaning spray on the bar where drinks we picked up was not a great look either)

The atmosphere is a bit tense. There are tables placed directly in the pathway of the entrance so I'm order to move further into the restaurant, if anyone is sitting at those tables (there were when we arrived) you cannot get passed without bumping. It seems they reserve the front of the restaurant near the door and very tight crowded area for tourists which is understandable, but doesn't make a very good first impression when you can't get to the seat without bumping others on the way due to the extreme closeness of the tables and chairs. The food was served hot, which was nice. The garlic bread was tasty. However, the Mac and cheese should have been named mash and cheese as the noodles were so very over cooked they were simply mush. The taste was rather bland as well. Service could be helped by having more than one person serving and taking orders. They did have the person at the bar eventually start to help as it appeared the server couldn't keep up. The tile flooring also has breaks which could cause trouble if someone is using a cane and doesn't see them whilst moving about.
