I went along yesterday with 3 small children hoping to treat us all to pizza. We waited patiently in line for entry to be met with a somewhat less than hospitable staff. I appreciate they were super busy at the time we arrived. Upon making the front of the queue I asked for some guidance as to what we were to do as staff kept buzzing past us effectively ignoring us. I was advised that we were to take a seat somewhere and when we’d chosen our order I was to go to the bar and order the food. I asked if there was any free tables anywhere as I couldn’t see any from my vantage point at the door. . I was told there may be one upstairs. I asked if the member of staff could possibly check for me so as not to drag 3 small kids all the way upstairs navigating the stairwell past staff carrying hot food and then squeezing through narrow gaps between tables of diners at close range in case there was in fact no seating available there. The lad kindly said he would check. He disappeared and didn’t come back for a while - next seen behind the bar trying hard not to make eye contact with me. I think he’d perhaps genuinely got distracted and then maybe forgotten (fair enough) until he clocked us still stood there but instead of coming to assist at that point he just chose to ignore us. I waited patiently for a few more minutes and managed to catch a female member of staff to whom I asked the same request. She refused to check anywhere for a free table for us and told me I was to find a table myself and then reiterated I’d have to then leave the kids alone to join a queue at the bar downstairs (most likely losing the table too) and place my order. I asked if it would be possible to have table service just due to the children being so small and too young to be left alone unsupervised on a different floor of the building to me. She refused advising me they were a pub serving food not a restaurant serving beer. I about turned and took my custom elsewhere … I won’t be back. I feel it was not a friendly or welcoming way to treat a polite customer with, what I thought to be, a reasonable request. As a local guest house owner, I also will not be recommending this establishment to any future guests of mine for fear that they be met with the...
Read moreSuch an extremely limited menu which offers measly toppings with the choice of only seven pizzas, starting at £13 for a Margherita. Topping options are sao limited that you can only have pepperoni, mince, mushroom, peppers or onions – or cheese of course - I had more options in my sandwich that afternoon than they could muster up! Despite the lack of menu creativity the Pizza’s were cooked really well and so its disappointing that they cant put a decent topping on them? Beers served are only from the Black Isle brewery and they’re ok but more choice is needed. What was also disappointing was they only serve their own soft drinks – organic of course and called Karma! A bizarre and money grabbing attempt at Coke which instead tasted like a syrupy flat own-brand supermarket Coke and given the name “Karma” so much more was expected for the £2.80 price being charged. The tap water was excellent however, so not all lost and I got my “Karma” back! Restaurant itself was fine but there is no table service and staff were slow to clear tables so you’ve really got to question how they can charge patrons £15 a pizza. The Outside area looked good but was full of people vaping and smoking so not a place you’d want to sit eating your pizza. I think this place and others in the area can get away with these standards given the limited choice and relative poor...
Read moreOn a trip taking my Mother throughout the UK and saw good reviews for this bar that specializes in pizza.
I used to work at a pizza place myself and I have to say this pizza is multiple levels greater than my store, and I thought my place's pizza was great.
The pizza dough is made daily and they are cooked in a wood fired oven. Some of the ingredients are even locally sourced. It all just shows that this business is very interested in giving an authentic experience to their guests.
The pizzas themselves come in one size, approximately 11 inches which is about perfect for one person.
The beers were an excellent pair with our pizza for the evening and they have quite a few to choose from, all of which are from their own brewery.
They even have non-alcoholic and gluten free options for their beers so everyone can join in on the fun.
They have a decent selection of pizzas too which I am certain will fit into any craving a person may have.
I had their spicy sausage and honey pizza while my mother had their pesto mushroom pizza.
The price per person came to about 10 to 20 pounds before tipping. And I would recommend leaving a good tip.
Never thought I have to go to Scotland to find the best pizza I ever had. Can't pass this place up if you're...
