The view from Dunbar battery is beautiful. On a clear day, you can look across to Anstruther. Bass rock is an ever changing wonderful sight to behold, influenced by the weather and the eye of the beholder. One day, covered in birds with the sun reflecting from the water, another day erie, surrounded in mystery as it rises from the mist.    Read moreAccess to the battery is free and wheelchair accessible although it's up a slope outside and inside. Great views of the harbour and down the East Coast. On clear days you can see Fife across the Firth of Forth even the Isle of May and Bass Rock. The path leading to the entrance takes you on a journey through the history of the battery so look to your feet. At the entrance and wall outside there are a few craft birds đŠ poking out the cravesses for the kids to watch out for.    Read moreThis is a fascinating place to visit and worth the visit for the views out to sea. Dunbar Battery was built to defend Dunbar. It was never used for that purpose. At one time there was a hospital built to serve infectious diseases. It served during the Word Wars. At some point after it fell into disrepair and the roof blew off in a storm. The hospital was destroyed and Dunbar Battery was abandoned. Thankfully, it was restored and we can enjoy the views. You will also discover a table listing some of the vessels lost at sea.
