Steak Pie? More Like Mistake Pie.

Let me set the scene: we walked into this pub hungry, hopeful, and with just a dash of trust in British cuisine. Big mistake.

I ordered the steak pie, which turned out to be a bowl of murky water with mystery meat particles floating in it—no pastry, no structure, just liquid sadness. It was like someone described a pie over the phone and the kitchen gave up halfway through. The peas were still frozen (genuinely still crunchy), and the mash was so dry I nearly dislocated my jaw chewing it. Gravy? Not a drop in sight. A Sahara of a meal.

Now, if you thought the food was bad, wait till you meet the barwoman. Rude, dismissive, and about as welcoming as a wasp in your pint. I asked a simple question and got a look that could curdle milk. Honestly, she acted like we had ruined her day just by existing.

At this point, the only way this place could make money is by taking a leaf out of some Bangkok back-alley business models and offering under-table “services”—at least someone would leave satisfied.

In conclusion: frozen peas, liquid pie, dry spuds, and a barwoman who could make Gordon Ramsay look polite. If you like being insulted and underfed, this is...

On holiday and popped in by for a drink. I asked if I could have a menu to be told “kitchen is closed” I asked if upstairs was open and was told this was separate so I asked if they were serving to be told “bookings only” I asked if I can book to be told “kitchen closed”. I went back outside to have my drink. 10minutes later the couple sitting next to me got a menu? Kitchen opens at 16.30 they told me. The barmaid came out and took their order. She did glance over and say do you want a menu?? I find it hard to understand why she didn’t tell me that the kitchen opens in 10minutes? The barmaid came back out and took our empty glasses looked at me and said “take your feet off the seat”. My foot was resting on a metal bar. I found her extremely rude and unfriendly. There are plenty people out there in need of a job, if she doesn’t like her job she should go do something else! We left with a rather bad taste in our mouths thanks to this person. Thanks to her you lost out on...

No stars as the food was the worst I have ever had in my life. No words to describe the solidified blob passed off as mash! It was served with a MUG of tinned peas poured all over the top. DISGUSTING!!! Hard nose manager is devoid of all manners Indignant that I complained, she said she 'has never had a complaint before'. ( then read all the reviews then). The starter made me feel sick and when I mentioned it, this woman replied that she likes it..( thick goo jelly poured over a salad) Worse, this woman (said she owned the place) served a customer who had a small dog sitting on top of the table. I mentioned this to her and she replied that she never noticed the dog on the table. Really? As you served the food? Dogs were jumping up at me as I was trying to eat. Meal was def the worst I have ever had and I felt sick. A mug of tinned peas poured on the meal? Hard nosed manager giving me lip when I complained....

This is kind of the quintessential small Scottish pub. You walk in, it's immediately clear everyone inside is local, know each other, and have for years. But they're also really friendly and make you feel at home. We dropped in for dinner after a tour of Belhaven brewery, and couldn't be happier that we did. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. If you're in Dunbar, go here even if it's just for a pint.

Was out for a wee wander around the town and was down at the seafront when I stumbled upon this lovely place.what a cosy and welcoming greeting we got from the ladies behind the bar.We didn't eat on this occasion but I had a nosey upstairs and it looks nice. The couple at the table next to us had food which looked lovely and they had clean plates by the end.If your in the area go in for a look.

Excellent little pub. Budvar on tap which was a pleasant surprise. Friendly staff and locals. Little outside area for when the weather allows with views towards the harbour. Also a restaurant upstairs, but I didn't have occasion to try the food on the last trip. Would highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere welcoming to stop after a day hiking or just in town.
