Shapla Tandoori — Restaurant in Scotland

Dined here as a couple last night. We didn’t have a reservation which is needed at the weekend, however, we were lucky and got a nice table tucked in a corner. The entrance has double doors making it wide enough for wheelchair and buggy access. I didn’t go to the toilet so I can’t say whether or not access would be an issue. Staff were very young, very polite but a bit chaotic, needing a bit of direction. Nevertheless, we got the food we ordered which was very tasty. There was an acceptable waiting time, considering that the restaurant was full. When things started to settle, the owner who had been behind the bar all evening, nipped out to the supermarket. He came back with ice cream Cornets for all of his staff which I thought was a very kind gesture and a lovely touch of appreciation. This employer focused on the positive rather than the negative and it gave the young boys and 1 girl a wee lift. I would highly recommend the Shapla. A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT WE VISIT DUNBAR EVERY WEEKEND AND USE SHAPLA ON A REGULAR BASIS WE ORDERED A TAKEAWAY FOR DELIVERY AND GIVEN A 45 MINUTE DELIVERY TIME AFTER HALF AN HOUR WENT I WAITED OUTSIDE AFTER NO ARRIVAL MY WIFE CHECKED HER PHONE AND THEY HAD CAME EARLIER AND WENT TO WRONG PLACE THEY WERE ANNOYED AND HAD TEXTED THEY WERE CONTACTING THE POLICE AFTER DISCUSSIONS THEY SAID THEY WOULD COME BACK OUT AND BECAUSE THEIR TIME HAD BEEN WASTED THEY WANTED DOUBLE DELIVERY CHARGES FOR WHAT WOULD BE NOW BE COLD FOOD, BECAUSE I REFUSED THEY WOULDNT BRING ORDER THIS MORNING MY WIFE HAD ANOTHER TEXT SAYING HE WOULD REPORT HER TO THE POLICE UNACCEPTABLE AND A SHAMEFUL WAY TO BEHAVE FROM A LOCAL BUSINESS WHICH MAKES LOVELY FOOD BUT FALLS WAY SHORT ON...

Ate here on a Friday evening after making a reservation which we were able to push back an hour without any problem. The place was empty when we arrived and most tables hadn’t been set up for dining. Starters were OK but when the mains arrived on a serving trolley and put on the table, they and the rice were luke warm and had to be sent back. They had clearly been standing for a while and left to get cold as we finished the starters. There were a couple of takeaway customers during our meal but for a Friday night it doesn’t bode well - we weren’t impressed by the mains or the restaurant itself.
