The Botanic Gardens is one of my favorite places to visit. It's not just a peaceful escape from the city, but it also feels incredibly refreshing and good for your health. Surrounded by lush greenery, the air is cleaner, and the sheer variety of plants helps you reconnect with nature. Whether you're strolling through the various sections or just sitting down to take in the scenery, the gardens have a calming effect. The abundance of plants promotes a sense of well-being, and it's the perfect spot for anyone looking to relax and rejuvenate. Highly recommended for a serene, nature-filled experience! The Botanic Gardens isn’t just a haven for plant lovers, but it also features some stunning sculptures that add a creative touch to the natural beauty. These sculptures, thoughtfully placed throughout the gardens, blend seamlessly with the greenery, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere. Each one tells a unique story and offers a great opportunity to pause and appreciate art in nature. Additionally, the pond in the gardens is home to a vibrant collection of fish. Watching them swim gracefully through the water is incredibly calming, and they add life and color to the serene surroundings. The combination of the sculptures and the lively pond makes the experience even more magical, offering both visual delight and a peaceful escape. One of the standout features of the Botanic Gardens is the incredible variety of plants on display. From towering trees to delicate flowers, the gardens boast an extensive collection from different regions and climates. You can find everything from tropical plants with bold, vibrant leaves to succulents and cacti that thrive in arid conditions. There are also rare species, aromatic herbs, and colorful blooms that change with the seasons, making each visit unique. This rich diversity of plant life not only makes the gardens visually stunning but also provides a learning experience for anyone interested in botany or simply curious about the natural world. It's a perfect place to discover new plants, enjoy the beauty of nature, and experience the calming benefits of being surrounded by greenery.

A DAY OUT IN GLASGOW. Glasgow botanical gardens is superb, how lucky are the people of Glasgow to have this on their doorstep. Catch the underground railway to Hillhead or bus(6 or 6a from Buchanan bus station, and make a day of it, going to the botanic gardens, then walk down byres road, hill head, that will give you a feeling of being in the old Glasgow Streets, make your way to Glasgow university, a stunning gothic building, within the university are 2 not to be missed places, the Mackintosh collection is housed in the Huntarian art gallery building, when you've done those, go to the university cafe for a brew. After you've been refreshed, walk down through Kelvin grove park onto the Kelvin grove art gallery, that sits on the end of sauchiehall st, this is not to be missed,a world famous art gallery containing many masters, complete with a cafe and restaurant. If you're a lover of organ music there is a recital at lunchtime. If your feet can stand it, walk across the road down argyle Street in to finnieston for a beer at the Park Bar, a long-standing watering hole. This pub is staffed from people of the inner hebrides , say hi to Winnie! If you catch the bus back to Buchanan Street no 77 (£2 each) just 10 minutes, you have only walked a mile but have seen the majority of Glasgow's West end,a proper old fashioned day out. The first six photos are the Kelvin grove art gallery and museum, the next photos of the Glasgow university.

We came across this place by chance and I’m so glad we did! There’s 2 greenhouses which are absolutely packed full of different plants of all shapes, sizes and colours. It’s great to see plants that you wouldn’t normally see in this country, and there’s so much to see. Some of the plants were huge, we felt like we were in the rainforest. In the larger greenhouse, there’s places to sit and admire the plants whereas in the smaller one, it can be a bit cramped as the walkways are quite small. The outside area is nice and big with lots of plants to look at. We visited in winter but I’m sure it’s even more beautiful in the summer when the plants are blooming. This place is completely FREE which is a huge bonus when you want a few hours out, without spending lots of money. Only downside is parking, we struggled to find somewhere to park as (as far as we could tell) there’s no car park. We will definitely be visiting again when we’re near the area.

A lovely garden and an absolute joy to tour. However, it is obvious that the gardeners have been drinking a great deal of tea during lockdown and letting many of the beds go to fallow. The beds at the entrance of the park are only just now in mid-June in the year of our Lord, 2021, getting tilled and planted. It doesn't take a Scottish doctor of infectious diseases to know that gardening is not a super-spreader activity. Certainly, Scottish local governments are absolutely brilliant at getting paid to do nothing during a national crisis. There is a snack bar by the entrance and a lovely tea-house on the premises. I will say that I didn't see litter on the ground so, at least, somebody must have been doing something. What a joke to pay a full time attendant 10 pounds per hour to sit and read a book in the unisex bathroom. How do I get a local government job? I hate work; I love free money; I like to read!
