I went swimming just few days ago and sadly the condition of the pool is getting worse and worse, while single entry and membership prices keep increasing. Just to list few things that will keep me from coming back in the future: • at least half of the lockers have keys missing, so there’s no way of locking away your belongings during peak hours • smell of urine in changing area, which clearly isn’t being addressed by employees, despite them regularly walking through the mentioned area • mysterious black bags taped to the floor just next to loadbearing columns - I sincerely hope it was just a broken floor tile • around 1/3 of shower heads not working •the shower area in general was disgusting with stains on the floor and walls • most of hairdryers not working • a lot of weird, green sediment at the deep end of the pool - I’m 100% this can be efficiently removed without emptying the pool.
Almost all the things mentioned have been an issue since at least last year (I used to swim there regularly). Honestly it’s embarrassing that this is the state of the most popular pool in Paisley, where hundreds of people spend their hard earned money. In particular I feel sorry for parents of kids who attend swimming lessons at Lagoon - there’s no alternative venue in Paisley, so they’re stuck with a pool which will probably soon become a health and...
Read moreTook my daughter to get a badminton lesson on one of the courts at 7:00pm. Booked in advance only to arrive and find the court she'd been allocated was covered with 30-40 judo mats and two larger mats with no-one using them.
At 6:50pm four of us started to clear them away. At 7:00pm one of the staff members came in and approached me to reprimand me for moving the mats, just as I'd moved the last one away from the badminton court.
When asked why she and her colleague were coming to set up a court after the time it was to be available, she snapped that they had five minutes turnaround time for each booking (meaning you're going to get 55 minutes at most). I pointed out that it had taken four of us ten minutes to move all the mats, but apparently they would have done it in half the time.
Having to move the mats is annoying when you want to get started straight away, but similar things have happened in the past and you let them go because the staff are probably busy. Getting reprimanded, snapped at and condescended to isn't acceptable though. It's supposed to be a customer facing role.
If you can use any of RL facilities elsewhere for any of the sports halls, I'd recommend you avoid the Lagoon. The facilities themselves are good (hence 2, not 1), but it's not...
Read moreGreat swimming pool for kids. I've been taking my son here since he was a baby and he loves it. There's a small teaching pool and a larger leisure pool in the same open plan area. The leisure pool is a beach type walk in style which starts at zero and gradually gets deeper. It's great for young kids as they can paddle around and go deeper when they start to feel more confident. There are mushroom like structures in the shallow end of the pool which you can put a child on and let them slide off safely. There's also a large slide which is uncovered and is fun for kids and adults alike. There are also roped off swimming lanes at the deep end for people who want to have a proper swim without bumping into kids! The fact that the training pool is in the same area as the main pool is very handy because I can have a swim while my son has his swimming lesson, then I just meet him when he's finished. The pool can be quite busy, especially at weekends but there are always enough lockers and changing cubicles. There's also a small spectator area between the pools and a buggy storage cupboard in the unisex...
