What a fantastic and friendly eatery!!!
My 8yr old stopped in for a meal when the rain prevented us from taking our intended beach walk⦠and I am so pleased we did.
Upon walking in it was clear that it was very busy and I doubted that we would get a table however at the far end there were 2/3 spare so we took a seat. The table did have some glassware on it from previous occupiers but nearly as soon as we sat down it was cleared.
I ordered on my phone using the QR code located on the menu. I absolutely love this feature because as a single parent I hate having to leave my child sat at a table whilst I wait at the bar to be served.
The menu, in my opinion, had something for everyone at a really reasonable price (Ā£10-15 a meal). I opted for the lighter Meat lovers pizza. The light versions of the pizza have 30% less calories compared to the regular version. My little one had the hungrier version of the fish and chips from the kids menu. Thought this was great as believe there where 3 sizes of the kids meals, so again something for everyone.
Drinks wise, 1/2 pint of orange juice (Ā£2) with ice. There was also the option of no ice or less ice. I had a latte (Ā£2.60). I did try to make it a caramel latte but there were no syrups available (was on app but blanked out) but it was still very nice.
Staff great, couldnāt do enough for you, stopped to chat and check we were ok, even though really busy, they made us feel very welcome.
Toilets, clean and tidy with plenty of stalls.
Noticed a pool table and dart board when we walked in. Various TVās that had channels changed at customers request. Cheerful music playing in background, loud enough to hear but not too loud to distract.
All in all, fantastic, we will be back š
My childās comment: Very good service, lovely food, the best place to spend time with your family...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love the Crows Nest. It's one of the few truly dog-friendly local pubs, with seating both inside and outside for my terriers. My dogs typically bark at other dogs briefly before they remember their inside manners, and when they were puppies they peed on the floor once or twice, but the staff are always very helpful and reassuring. There's always plenty of water in numerous bowls for canines, and usually pets and treats from staff as well.
The location is lovely, right next to the seaside and perfect for a relaxed meal after a walk along the beach. The food selection is as you'd expect in a chain restaurant, so mid-price and not too exotic, but cooked well and served with a smile. The chips are ALWAYS perfect, much better than those sold at any of the local chippies--crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and golden all over. Good selection of soft and alcoholic drinks as well (Old Mout for me, as a rule).
The kids' menu is one of the better pub menus, probably because over the years, Crows Nest staff have swapped menu items and done things like bring room-temperature drinks for my children (who have certain dietary and sensory requirements). This just speaks to the all-around excellent service I've come to expect from the people working there--they really are friendly, flexible, and happy to help.
In short, I highly recommend this family and dog-friendly pub. Weekday afternoons (before about 4 p.m.) are a particularly good time to visit if you want to be sure of being seated straightaway--this popular pub is often full to bursting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited this pub on Sunday 5th of march . We had a booking . For 3.45 pm . The staff were lovely and helpful , we ordered some food I wanted the turkey dinner sadly they never had any left so I got a burger instead which was lovley only thing is you only got very small potion of chips but . It is what it is I did order a gravy and chips afterwards so problem solved . My problem was that my mother in law who is autistic ordered the chicken dinner it came out looking nice until she started cutting into the chicken and it was all pink wow I was shocked at this place is normally on itās game . The waiter took it back and got her a new one . I had to say can she get it well done cause the fears of it coming back pink . They brought it back but my mother law couldnāt eat it because she was traumatised off the last chicken so we needed up taking it home for the dog . I think itās bad service that only the waiter came back and says sorry . The manger or someone higher up management should have came over . I donāt run a restaurant? so I wouldnāt have clue what they should do but in my opinion more action should been taking . As I say the staff are Lovley and I know it was busy but still every impression counts . But the young lad who was so nice cleaning the table big thanks .
Also sorry for any spelling mistakes...
