Ancient woodlands great for dog walking, be sure to check out Rivelin pub for great beers and food. This walk is a few miles long through native woodlands. Plenty of wild life and Herons in the river. There is a popular plunge pool near up to the carpark at the A57 junction, although this is probably one of the worst wild swim spots around. The water is filthy and if the area ever floods all types of sewage and contaminants are in the water. .... BUT!! ....the walk is very nice and you can easily head out to open country and up to the Dams from this spot with free parking and decent facilities including the Rivelin Cafe for a good snack. This was our first visit to Rivelin valley Park. We walked alongside the river on the trails and over the stepping stones. The kids played in the playground too. The weather wasn't spectacular but there were still plenty of kids (& adults) paddling in the river & playing in the water park section. The park is beautiful & the area appears to have good maintenance. There are toilets on site which is great, plus an ice cream van & a large cafe (which we didn't visit). There is plenty of picnic ground to sit in with some benches but plenty of space for blankets. I think on a nice day you could definitely spend hours here playing in the river & park.

This park wouldn't be my first choice to visit with my grandchildren. I found it difficult to find somewhere to park. My grandson took his bike, there are quite a few hills so not ideal for little legs also my husband has mobility difficulties. The splash water park is nowhere near as accessible as other splash parks I've visited. There is nowhere to sit comfortably to watch the children play. However, my grandson enjoyed exploring the equipment in the playground.

A lovely trail following the river with waterfalls, sculpture, stepping stones, picnic areas and a cafe. There is a little water park consisting of sprinklers and a small shallow pool. On the day we went, there was ample parking on the roadside. I would personally download the map from their site as we did find ourselves second guessing where the trail continued but to be fair, just follow the river as best you can or go off the beaten track and explore. A...
