So went finally to Jaflong . Didn't know what to expect so I went there with an open mind . I must confess I love lamb mehti but had loads of really bad ones . I shall review the restaurant, service and food: looks : from the outside it looks quite a nice place towards the top end quality table setting - impressed . Nice quality cutlery cleanliness: restaurant clean, table cloth clean , carpet clean and the most important TOILETS very clean Menu - lots a choice , something for everybody pickle tray- finally a large one. Not tight with the pickles Main dish - the lamb mehti - tender lamb , good flavour and lovely aftertaste ( not too hot or overly spicy ) the nan - I asked for extra garlic nan and they delivered : it was the most garlicky nan I ever had - loved it . Also didn't come across as synthetic garlic the larger : draft Cobra : still preferring bottled . It was slightly too flat but it is to be expected with draft larger THE SERVICE : very polite staff always happy to help. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time ( I think it was in about 15 min approx ) just enough to allow us to enjoy the pickle tray. The price : ok so it is not the cheapest but the quality is really good and the service exemplary . You only get what you pay for . As a minus the pints were a bit on the expensive side but not shamefully high .
The Conclusion :
Great place if you enjoy a good lamb mehti and high...
Read moreI've been to Jaflong for over 10 years, and had great curries throughout. However - our experience on New year's will leave a group never coming back.
We appreciate it's new years eve and it's a busy time for the curries - however waiting 2 hours for our food, and having over 10 people waiting behind our seats waiting for our seats, leaving the elderly outside in the rain was disgusting for both ourselves and the next table.
As is common, the takeaway was prioritized over the restaurant goers.
The food was good, but came out cold for half of our party, many orders were wrong and the length of the time taken just detracted from the decent food.
I would like to say that one in particular staff member serving our party, did apologise for our long wait and it's a shame the manager could not accept an ounce of responsibility.
Once we had got to paying, the fact that the food was 2 hours late wasn't regarded, leading to an argument over the till. The manager openly shouted at my friend when she was reasonably trying to explain how overwhelming the situation was - It's not what we expect for a nice meal. The icing on the cake was the embarrassment for us and the parties waiting for our seats for over an hour.

Read moreWent yesterday for my birthday. Treat from my two kids and partners. Service was over all good, Barr a drink been spilt at the table while one of the waiters was stood and he didn’t even offer us a serviette let alone move plates to help. Starters were fantastic, we all went for a variant of the chat. Want to say that three of the mains were fantastic according to eaters. One was very very hot, it wasn’t that hot the last time it was ordered. I ordered a vegetable balti. While the sauce was lush, the curry consisted of sliced onions a few garden peas and some frozen cubed carrot. That was it! Now any vegetable curry I’ve eaten had potatoes some cauliflower etc, very very disappointed. And for 10.50 I was robbed. If I go again I will stick to Paneer....
