South Marine Park — Attraction in South Tyneside

Great place to spend the day with your children. If the weather is kind there is a small railway that takes you around the lake. There is also modern play areas for toddlers and opposite play area for the older ones. Plenty of space to take picnics. With food outlet, ice cream van, and toilets! A lovely walk out with your dog (please clean up) It is very close to Bents park which has a number of free acts on over the summer months. The it is also in the vicinity of a fair with plenary of rides and fish & chip of course. Watch the seagulls don't pinch your chips.or ice cream!! And of course you are next to the beach.. curry houses in Ocean Road at one time there were 13 in the one street!and B & B's basically there is plenty to do in and around marine park. They do have caravan rallies also..you need to check when these are on...

My home town The Parks at the sea front are named north and south Marine park because the main road Ocean rd runs between them the south park does have a large boating lake a railway station and miniature train which takes passengers around the lake ,there is a cafeteria and toilets. Top of park there is a beautiful Victorian waterfall with paths leading around the whole park passing Victorian statues and a lovely bandstand. For the children there is two play areas .and a large grassed area for public picnics and play area. The north park has the bowling greens Tennis courts children's play areas and paths leading up to the lawe top which Over look the harbour and sea front and great picturesque views of the piers...

Lots of positive things to say about this popular park. The fact it's always busy speaks volumes, the ideal place to take young children. It has two play areas, for toddlers & older kids. You can ride the mini steam train around the pond for a small fee. There's a nice cafe to have lunch or a quick coffee. The park is pleasant to walk around, with some things of note to look out for (such as a bandstand, water feature "when working", statues & plenty benches to rest. During the summer you can hire a pedal boat to take a whirl around the pond too. The only negative was the amount of litter around the park, particularly in the water feature & the bins around the...
