We did the Egyptian themed escape room at The Escapement. The previous escape rooms that I have done elsewhere have had simple plain doors and no effort was put into the exterior however Escapement was different. Right from the entrance of the room you are transported to a tomb. It had a distinctly similar feel to the old TV show, Crystal Maze. We were greeted with a slightly more detailed introduction to the room than we were used to, which personally I am less keen on as I prefer to feel like I've been dropped into a room with minimal explanation, however I assume they did this from experience of others having done the room. The room itself was brilliantly decorated with fully emmersive theming. I won't go too much into the puzzles, as I don't want to spoil anything. This was a more logical room that requires problem solving and deciphering rather than hunting for lots of clues. There were 4 of us doing the room and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. At the end we were each presented with a little charm and informed if we complete the other two rooms in Margate we would be granted access to their new room in Broadstairs. This is clearly a bit of clever marketing, but clever it is indeed as we're already talking about booking our next trip. I would highly recommend Escapement for those into team puzzles. It was great fun! Thanks for being fantastic hosts. See you soon

Did the mine one hence the photo. Really good fun. Great immersion! If you haven't done an escape room before and worry that it'll be absolute brie and/or locked in a room with random "clues" hidden around a single room with a countdown timer winding you up as it winds down you're quite safe as it's none of those things. Toilets, hot drinks and water available (not during the experience obviously) with a proper intro by really decent staff. It's not cheddar nonsense in a poorly kitted out failed Estate agents office. Will definitely be going back for the other escapes.
