Created in the mid-nineteenth century for Abingdon's residents to enjoy, Albert (himself perched high up on a column and whose wife is to be found across town in the Abbey Gardens) Park is a compact mix of formal and informal gardens laid out symmetrically, with mature trees and a gravel pathway round its perimeter, and a large area of mown grass in the centre. It's a popular spot and well-used by walkers, picknickers, runners ... Parking is not permitted in the surrounding streets (nearest public car park is Stert Street multistorey which offers an hour free) and there are no loos. There's an exit on every side or corner which makes it easy to take a small detour through the park when walking through Abingdon. Plenty of bins provided for cleaning up after yourself...
