A small,well presented museum,gives you an idea of how Gainsborough just missed being a major industrial centre (although it would probably have faded anyway) Staff friendly and informative, at one time all corn was threshed by the power of a Field Marshall tractor, most winter ploughing done by a Track Marshall crawler. And confectionery wrapped in a Roses machine,or a Liner's drinking water made in a still made here. Or a bomber's gun turret made here,and how might the air war have gone if all had used the more powerful 0.5" cannon? Read moreA nice little place full of history and news about Gainsborough, especially the old Marshalls tractor factory and Roses packaging company. These two displays take up most of the ground floor and if you were to read and study all the information on display about them you'd need an hour or two. Upstairs - or via the lift - is a nice street scene with old post office, sweet shop and an old house with vintage furniture. On the top floor there's old newspapers to go through if you're looking for something in particular. Just be aware that the place isn't open very often, maybe twice a week so check...

Marshall's and Roses they have a brilliant reference library with the entire history of employment cards from Marshall's and loads of other reference materials. Very helpful volunteers in the research area too. Only £3 per adult and kids are free but if you are going to use the research area its worth buying a membership at only £15 per year.
