Il Gusto Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in West Lindsey

This was our first time to this restaurant and, as we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, thought it would be something special and different as it had not been opened long.

I was able to book the table through a text chat and received confirmation within about 4hrs.

We arrived at the booked time and we were shown to our table. It looked like they had just cleaned the table as it was still a little sticky....I hope that was the case anyway. The waitress came to us and took our order for drinks, we ordered the house red, which was an Italian 2022, and it tastedl very nice. They returned and took our order for starters and mains.

Whilst we waited for our starter, we drank a little of the wine and took in the atmosphere. It was a very busy night (Friday) with plenty of people booked in and waiters/waitresses moving backwards and forwards, seemed very promising as a venue. There was, at one point early in the evening, which concerned us as one of the waitresses had seen we had been sat without food for a while and asked if we had our starters yet, which we confirmed we had not so thought it strange the time from ordering to receiving starters a little long.

The starters eventually came and I had the mushrooms in a gravy sauce with home-made bread and my wife had the Calamari. My wife did comment that she thought the Calamari was not as 'puffed up' as others she had seen coming out, but still tasted good, as did my dish.

Once this was finished and the dishes taken away, we waited less time for our mains. My wife ordered the Chicken Spinach, whilst I ordered the Chicken Diavola, which was both plentiful and very hot. We both very much enjoyed our meals but were quite full from the amount given on our plates, so would maybe only have a main next time. I didn't have room for dessert, so that might be a lunchtime visit another day.

All in all, the food was delicious, the service a little slow at times, but well worth a visit. Cost wise, it is a little more expensive than the local Prezzo, but you are getting different dishes and to a higher standard, we will definitely...

Have been to this restaurant twice in last two months. One was a couples evening meal and the other a works Christmas party. First visit, excellent food, attentive staff..my only criticism is that despite our main meal food being cleared away promptly after finishing...we did struggle to catch a staff member to ask for the dessert menu. I'd have preferred to have been asked when our empty plates had been taken. The second visit we were sat in a side room with a party of 11. Food had been pre-ordered weeks beforehand. All starters came out fairly promptly aside from one guest. We had to chase this twice. We had one starter come out twice for a guest who had cancelled late due to illness. One guest didn't like her main at all. Chicken was tough, dry and tasteless. She was asked if she wanted an alternative meal and opted for the Lasagne, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The starters and mains were very good portion sizes and hot/tasty. Desserts were a little bit of a let down. Small and not very filling, but nicely presented. All in all, we had a lovely two visits. The staff on the second visit were again incredibly professional, sorted out our requests with no fuss and were very hard working...

what can I say, absolutely blown away by the quality of food served here!! I have always begrudged paying money to eat pasta but OMG the food here is different!! I had to stop myself licking the plate clean of the sauce for a mushroom and garlic toast starter and would have had it for a pudding if the main had not only delivered the perfect balance but also left me craving a slice of bread to mop up every little bit of space and send back a clean plate!! my steak special tagliatelle was cooked so perfectly I could cut the steak with a spoon!!
