Prezzo Italian Restaurant Gainsborough — Restaurant in West Lindsey

Grazed at Prezzos in Gainsborough many times, always good food and service and enjoyable even if a tad expensive especially the drinks. We decided to take some friends there on New Years Eve. Very poor service on New Year's Eve, the first New Year we had been out for 5 years. First the dishes came out separately so we weren't eating as a group and it was extremely slow. It was probably 45 mins before the starters arrived and about similar for the main. They had run out of beef so all the beef dishes were off the menu. The waitress was ages bringing the requested not offered parmesan cheese and couldn't locate it(this is an Italian restaurant) then dropped a huge lump of it whilst grating it on the dish (this was funny as it was completely accidental). The strangest part of the evening was when the waitress came to take our dessert order and halfway through taking it disappeared to the counter and never returned. When we called her over she said they weren't serving any more dishes this was about 10pm as the manager had informed her so we couldn't have coffee or dessert and apologised for forgetting to come and inform us. The table next to us were told the same and they said they were going to Macdonalds for a Mcflurry. This was a joke. When we queried this as we went to pay the bill all the staff looked sheepish and all said they hadn't said we couldn't have dessert. A poor end to New Year's Eve. The food was fine but a disaster from start to finish and embarrassing for us recommending...

Food, although slightly overpriced was very delicious. Drinks were very overpriced. £3.75 for a small glass bottle of Pepsi et al, hence we ordered a jug of water for the table. Staff were overall friendly and responsive, however the one waitress that mostly served us, we thought was a little bit intrusive and overbearing. Whilst initially seeming funny and having banter, this member of staff, we feel, overstepped the mark with a couple of comments. She criticised our meal preferences as “red flags” in our relationship. Mine being I didn’t like mayo, and my partners being she ate chips before the burger! She claimed that she was joking with her comments before saying “or am I?” along with her expressions and tone making it seem like she disapproved of our relationship. We know staff are there to recommend desserts but this staff member seemed particularly disappointed when we declined, almost coming across as a little pushy. She just seemed a little unprofessional and invasive into our personal relationship, and then presumptuous when, after finally receiving the bill (after 15 minutes from asking for it), she coyly pushed the bill towards me, a male, implying I should pay and commented that I was waiting for my partner, a female, to get her purse out. This staff member dampened our experience of Prezzo that evening. I know staff are meant to be friendly and I don’t mind banter but she was...

Oh dear I don’t know where to start with this review.

It was a Wednesday night and we went with family, it was 9 people but we did book ahead. We got there at 1730.

We were served drinks immediately and had a wait for them to get our order. Then every course there was something not there. The starters were finished before my sister in laws starter had arrived. They said it had just come out the oven but we were sat near where they cook and it had been there a while. My son had finished his main course before my husbands arrive. My husband and brother ordered the beef and mash and it was literally the size of a starter!! Really disappointed.

We didn’t have pudding and that took 2.5 hours which is just way too long with 3 kids.

At the start I said I had a voucher for the kids eat free and asked if they did blue light at the same time. They told me no so we went for kids eat free. When we saw the size of the bill I double checked blue light (to see if it would be cheaper to pay for the kids and use blue light) low and behold, on blue light it states blue light and kids eat free!! So she put that on for me (saved us £42!!!)

I asked the server to take the service charge off (£25) and she snatched the receipt off me and stormed off.

I went to complain and all I got was a ‘sorry’ it’s busy and there are only 2 chefs.

Probably won’t be back. Try harder...
