One of the best Indian Restaurants I've ever been too. Fortunately I researched the fact we needed to bring our own wine. Very Friendly and Polite waiting team, order was taken in a timely manner, we liked the fact we could order only the pickles we wanted with the poppadoms. Starters we shared samosas and onion bhaji, both hot and crispy and cheekily spiced. Mains we the Tandoori dishes, the Mixed Grill, that had lamb sheesh, chicken tikka, tandoori roast chicken and naan. The Special was a Keema stuffed pepper, Prawn, chicken tikka and lamb. Both were very tasty, succulent and flavoured perfectly. The sides of vegetable curry, pilau rice and mushroom bhaji set the grilled meats off perfectly, we also commended the waiter for stopping us ordering more naans. This left room for the typical frozen puds. Pleasantly surprised that the nil was less than 45 pounds, cracking value. If we ever visit Gainsborough again this fabulous...
Read moreIt's a shame to give Elachi a 2 star rating, as I am in the area for the weekend and chose this based upon other very good reviews. However, following a very dry Sheek kebab, we were served a chicken balti that was absolutely swimming in grease. It was left and I raised this with a staff member who simply stated "this is how we cook a balti, we use oil". I've eaten many many baltis in my time, all of which have been in a freshly made sauce and whilst I appreciate oil is used to cook most things, it should not be a 1/4 inch layer on the top. We also had a Rogan Josh which was fine, in comparison. The naan bread was also tiny compared to what you usually get at an Indian restaurant, with the garlic naan differing from the plain naan only by way of a pile of chopped garlic in the middle. I'm really disappointed to leave such a negative review, but I expected much more based upon...
Read moreIt took 2 hours and 20 minutes for the food to arrive. I had to call twice having ordered online. I thought I'd give the food the benefit of the doubt when it turned up. Unfortunately, it was aweful. I ordered the tandoori mixed grill. Chicken was bone dry and the beef was tough. The naan breads were cold and stale and the rice had gone cold and hard after standing for so long. My wife and daughter had the chicken tikka masala. It was bright red and loaded with colouring and tasted very sweet and sickly and was unlike any other tikka masala we have ever tasted. This is by far the worst overall experience I have had with an ordered in meal. The best food in the order can only be described as 'uninspiring' at best. Very poor value for money, especially as we paid £58 for the meal. This was the first time I had order from Elach. It was...
