We visited here with our 5 year old on Saturday. The total ticket cost was £19. There isn't much to do or see here. I'd say the entire attraction is smaller than a school sports hall. There are only about 15 sand sculptures to view (around half of which are unfinished/damaged). Aside from the sculptures there's a sandpit area where you can build your own sand sculpture, another sandpit with toys in it for the younger kids and an area where you can make your own sand art bottle but you have to pay at least £4 for the plastic bottles and they are small and not the best quality. There's also a little cafe area and gift shop.
Probably the main reason for my 1* review is due to hygiene. Instead of a toilet block there are 3 porta potties. I know these toilets see a fair amount of use but there is no excuse for the amount of filth I saw in all 3 toilets. They'd obviously not been cleaned in a while. Since I was desperate I used the least repulsive of the 3 but didn't notice until after I flushed the toilet that around the bottom of the flush lever there was a puddle of what appeared to be poop-water. And after that I saw no sign of any place I could properly wash my hands, only a foam sanitiser. So, feeling the need to remove the now sanitised yet still existent stranger poop residue from my hands, I asked a member of staff if there was a sink I could use. Instead of allowing me to quickly use the staff sink she directed me over to a washing up bowl full of brown water in the make-your-own-sculpture area which countless kids had been sticking their hands in to wash off sand. Lovely. It's also kind of wrong that she wanted me to wash my hands in there knowing where I'd come from and what was on them. I let the girl know that the toilets were dirty before asking about washing my hands but I don't think she intended to do anything about it since she didn't acknowledge that comment, she just sat back down after she'd proudly presented me with the bowl of germ-water.
So, in conclusion, this place was boring, totally unsanitary and very overpriced. Not even my 5-year-old had fun here. I urge anyone reading this not to waste their money. It's honestly so dull. nip down to the beach instead, it's within walking distance and there's so much more to do. They even have a sand sculpture on display...
Read moreAfter seeing the photos online, I believed this was going to be a great family, fun day out. We travelled 2.5hrs to come see this place and I was shocked to say the least. The reviews on here must be lies! Tickets were nearly £50 for a family plus 3 adults. This made us think it must be amazing. We walked out of the little paying kiosk and was welcomed by a welcome sand creation. There was then around 15 more sand creations which were covered in cobwebs, dort and food had been thrown on them. This took us all of 15mins to see, most of this time was having to wait to take photos as there was lots of people under this tiny gazebo. The hygiene levels were shocking, yes there were 3-4 hand sanotiser tubes around outside, but the families were passing sand tubes around without a thought. There was no covid safety precautions in place. If you are coming to visit, ensure you have other places planned as this will take at most 20mins to see, unless you like vising a creche still place where the kids will have fun but none clean fun. There was no toilet facilities around the park which has many attrsctions, instead there were Porto loos sith huge queues outside, again not clean. The website is misleading along with the reviews on here.
The sand art was very good, with one piece still being created i thought it should have been hidden instead of showing all of there tools and buckets as this looked messy. There are some very, very talented people here but there needs to be more art and a bigger, cleaner space. Too crowded and dirty. I had bugs landing on me every...
Read moreNever heard of the place but was in the area and saw the entrance in passing after visiting Sea Life Weymouth. Admittedly I was weary as the prices seemed pretty steep for an attraction that was not very well promoted, however the wife and kids seemed intrigued by the nature of it and we bought a £22 family pass for 2 adults and 2 children. We were given an activity sheet to fill in on the way around which kinda made the visit much better as there were quite detailed and in depth questions and answers which were gathered throughout the venue. ALL Of the sand sculptures were huge and in great detail. The layout is GREAT and you can even try your own hand at some sand art. There's a sand pit play area for the under 5's and a history wall of how the site became what it is today from wasteland to sculptures of the the past right through to present day. There is also a small gift shop on the way out where you can purchase your own sculpting tools or other relevant gifts and memorabilia. You can also get a stamp if you want to pop back...
