I went in to join 2 of my friends who were having dinner there with kids. Most of the service was slow and pathetic where sides were forgotten with the mains and desserts from kids menu only came after reminders. Order of fries for kids was also conveniently missed. Overall the place wasn't kid friendly as some staff seemed very bothered by kids moving out of chairs, even though the place wasn't specifically busy or any customer bothered but just the staff. High chair was never offered or request listened to. Even then the worst part was not the speed or forgetfulness, it was the rude behaviour with which our table was dealt with, specially from one particular staff. I wanted to order an icecream for my daughter as 2 other kids were having as part of kids menu and I tried to ask the staff member if it is available on it's own and the pricing. He seemed so offended by it that without answering just took the order. I was charged £6 for a scoop of vanilla ice cream when you get whole kids dinner in
Read moreFirst time visit after wanting to give Mokka a try for a while. Very overpriced for what we got. Visited as a party of four. Awkward atmosphere with very loud live music and staff encouraging clapping after each song. Not apropriate when only a few tables and everyone eating. Two carbonara pasta dishes came out very cold (potentially left waiting while the other meals were cooked - two bland burgers). The pasta looked presentable with lardons arranged on top. However, we alerted our waitress to the fact they were cold, and on further inspection quite watery. She seemed unphased, like this happens often. She asked if we would still like the meal or something different. We asked for the same to be made again. The pasta was brought back out, mixed up with the lardons, curdled and piping hot. Definitely a microwave job. If you mess up, apologise and make it right. I'd rather have waited for a better attempt than a curdled mess. We didn't finish the meal and were clearly unhappy. No attempt to waive the cost of even one meal, or the service as good will. No apology. We didn't ask for this, but feel we shouldn't have to when you pay for something which is substandard. There are plenty of lovely restaurants in Woking. Mokka isn't...
Read moreWe had a few failed attempts to come here where it was closed, or they weren't serving brunch, but we arrived at around 1pm on a Saturday and were able to order from the brunch menu. We got a lovely window seat, which was actually nice and warm, even though it was a cold day. The menu is great for brunch, and varied, with a contemporary feel. The food is tasty enough, and again with interesting variety in the garnish salads. The staff were all friendly and helpful. There are three draft lagers, and they also serve cocktails. The person I was with requested a pot of tea which comes with nice crockery. The atmosphere was chilled but with a vibrance that you don't often find in Woking. They also have wifi which works well.
Overall, we were pleasantly surprised, and will definitely be coming again. This particular space in Woking is notoriously doomed for the service industry, which has had many different establishments come and go, one of which failed to even open before it moved on, so I hope that Mokka Bistro will find success. I will definitely be...
