I love the grace Museum but I do think the staff should be more trained properly in the circumstances of having kids with autism there. I took my children there today and they are both nonverbal and cannot communicate back to people they also have no understanding of inside voice and outside voice. I was in the play area with them and one of the cleaning ladies kept telling my kids that they needed to be quiet and not be so loud she proceeded to tell them this three times and them not being verbal they couldn't communicate back to her as she was getting more upset with them each time and given there is only two other kids in the play area with them, I was upset it is a kids play area and I believe kids should be able to be kids. I just wanted to take them someplace they could play and not have to worry about people judging them. I finally took my kids home after the third time of this lady telling then they...

If you’re considering getting a membership to utilize the children’s play area upstairs as a fun place for your kids to be kids on a rainy afternoon, think again. There’s a KAREN there who will follow your toddler around chastising them before you even have a chance. I’d been there a handful of times with no issue, but this last visit made me regret buying an annual membership and definitely ensured I will not purchase one again or recommend the museum to friends. Obviously kids will run and be loud, obviously most parents will correct them. Having a bored, old woman there with nothing to do other than follow your children around literally putting toys away while your kid is still using them and shushing them as if it’s a library is rather ridiculous. We’ve never had an incident with the other staff members. Some people just aren’t good...

Our family of seven visited The Grace in the morning. Our five children had an amazing time discovering all the kinds of art they could make in the play zone. The VW Bug was a huge hit for our three-year-old. Our seven-year-old loved the stage area and the Astronaut costumes. Our eight-year-old was amazed by the touchscreen draw creator. And our five-year-old and six-year-old loved the play centers.

The art installations on communication and the arts were beautifully displayed and the children found them most interesting.

The period rooms and the hotel room would have looked like at The Grace for was very interesting and was loved and cared for.

I enjoyed the dresses and many types of hand fans.

We could not have been more entertained by this outing.

It was also a great place to be out of...

I’ve been coming here for years — and now I get to see it through my kids’ eyes, which somehow makes it even better.❤️ The Grace Museum in Abilene is packed with so much creativity. My kids were all over the STEM challenges, the play stage with costumes, and the big house you can climb through. So much room for imagination — and all 3 of mine were into it. 👧🧒🧒 It’s an easy, inexpensive stop right in downtown Abilene — plus there’s a cute storybook sculpture scavenger hunt nearby too. Definitely one to keep in mind if you’re ever passing through! 👀 Ever been here with your kids? What a beautiful museum! Small, but I love being able to see inside the old hotel. There are art galleries on the first two floors, a super fun kid's space on the second floor, and more local history on the third. I really enjoyed it and learning more about Abilene! The original train station is right across the street and several of the storybook character statues are in the immediate area. There is dedicated parking for the museum, "behind" the hotel (opposite from the front corner entrance), both covered and uncovered. I found plenty of street parking as well right on the corner. There's a coffee shop and restaurant nearby that looked like they were serving at 10 am.
