Abilene Convention Center — Attraction in Abilene

Great venue for a show and Don and Janis always do a good job of organizing one. They encourage all family members to come out from moms and dads to their children when accompanied by an adult. One of the few shows that welcome people with crafts and " Girlie stuff" lol to draw in all kinds of people. Literally something for everybody and lots of free parking.. You can find all kinds of firearms from old black powder ones on up through the years to the most modern ones. People bring in their private collections as well as FFL dealers who either have on hand or can order most any gun a person could want. Custom built knives from well known builders as well as imported ones. Most vendors bring their small personal collections to try and trade for others they dont have. Some like military type firearms and will have all kinds of accessories to go with them...others specialize in a particular brand or time period...old Colts or Winchesters...Smith and Wesson. Somebody will have what you are looking for or can help you find it. Most vendors are happy to make a trade and you might have the exact gun they have been looking for. The building is air conditioned and a very pleasant way to spend some time. One of the few venues offering a very good concession stand/snack bar and the burger i had today would compare with most any set down restaurant in town plus the prices are very fair. Easy in and out for other handicapped folk like myself. Good wheel chair ramps getting in and all the floors inside are level with no stairs. Makes a BIG difference. It was a trip, first we were told to go to the other side we were in the wrong spot it's 6 am I'm in the number two spot , so we move them it's starts to rain, they let us inside, then we had to move again across the hall that's when the real fun starts after all the paper and the computer entry and the nurse and there system failing to send the right codes, after all that they said your done.. I went there for my first covid-19 vaccine shot. The parking was good. Handicap parking was plenty. Ramps were easily accessible. Building was neat clean with absolutely no foreign odors like most big buildings that have large crowds. I was in that building 19 years ago and it was just as clean and neat as it was just the other day back then so whoever takes care of that facility does a good job at kitchen and clean.
