Monks has good coffee for more reasonable pricing than competitors. I believe the ingredients are higher quality as well. These are the main reasons I choose them. IMO they have the best tasting coffee/drinks in Abilene.

That said, drinks can be inconsistent depending on who is making them and that really wouldnt be a huge deal if the girls behind the counter didn't get SO defensive and make it one. They always insist the reason the drink was off was bc of something the customer did as though its not possible they could've made a mistake. Twice now, they've insisted I said something I know I didn't on different kinds of drinks. Ive had to ask for maybe... six re makes in the last two YEARS and I go three or four times a month. This is not because they dont make more mistakes than that, these are just the times the drink was bad enough it couldn't be drank. I have no idea why the girls make SUCH a big deal over something that happens so seldom and look to blame someone. The guys don't argue, make snarky comments they think you can't hear, LIE, or make ugly facial expressions. The attitudes are a BIG turn off.

Also, there is a good amount of seating, but the furniture is gross. The couches look disgusting and are in dire need of...

I work downtown and have been a regular here for awhile. My husband often wondered why I didn’t just make my coffee at home, and after trying Monks, he finally understood! LOL. The team at Monks is always so friendly and quick to greet me, making every visit a pleasure.

The other day, I walked in and saw the manager or owner (not sure which) training a new employee. It was clear how much she cared — she took the time and paid attention to every detail to ensure the new employee had the support she needed. I really appreciate the quality and consistency I get from Monks. Even though different people make my drinks, they always taste the same, which I truly value — unlike many coffee shops where the same order can taste different each time.

I usually get the iced dirty chai with a Cubano shot and oat milk. As a chai "snob," I can confidently say they have the best chai in town. Thank you for fueling my mornings and always making my day a...

I enjoy going downtown for a quick cup of coffee to brighten my day. On rare occasions, I bring my service dog with me, especially when I’m having a challenging day. My dog does not wear a vest indicating she’s a service animal, but I’m always prepared to answer questions if needed.

Today, when I entered, I was immediately met with, “Sorry, this is going to be really awkward, but we only allow service animals in our building.” I was not asked any clarifying questions, such as “Is your dog a service animal required because of a disability?” or “What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?”

I’m not upset, but I was taken aback and saddened by the approach. A simple, respectful question would have sufficed and avoided the awkwardness. I hope this feedback encourages more thoughtful interactions in the future, as it’s important to balance enforcing policies with ensuring customers feel respected...

What a quaint artsy coffee shop which has a lot of personality, friendly service, wonderful ambience and of course, great coffee. It's in the heart of downtown so it's a wonderful place to go and hang out but then walk around to enjoy the downtown charm of Abilene. In addition to having great coffee, they also have delicious smoothies and unique and wonderful selections of tea. I love the decor with great art from local artists and has a relaxing vibe to the place that makes you want to just hang out with friends and family and enjoy your time together. The service is personalized and they really want to help you find just the right coffee and tea and are highly accommodating with food intolerances. Would highly recommend this coffee shop.

This coffee shop is absolutely my favorite! The atmosphere is calming, making it a perfect spot to work or study. There's ample seating and plenty of outlets, which is very convenient. I've also enjoyed playing many card games with friends here. The baristas are fantastic and always great to chat with. If anyone needs to cater coffee for their events, Monks is an excellent choice. I've used their catering service before, and everyone was thrilled because I chose Monks. My go-to drink is the Tuxedo Mocha, and it never disappoints. Overall, it's a fantastic coffee shop with wonderful baristas and a great vibe. I would rate it 10 out of 10 as the best coffee shop in Abilene.

An amazing place. I really liked this place. Upon arrival, the atmosphere was very calm, very clean, and well-decorated. There were people of all ages, from children to seniors, enjoying themselves with their families. There were also students with their computers and some young people who went to hang out. The place has good music, and one of the few I've been to that featured Arctic Monkeys, so if you like the band, this is a good place. When I ordered coffee, the employees were very friendly and patient. The wait time wasn't long, and the coffee was quite delicious. An excellent place that you have to go to if you visit or live in Abilene.
