Downtown Dog is the absolute best store in ALL OF AIKEN!!! My wife and I have six Rescue Dogs and two Rescue Cats along with two Chinchillas, a Bearded Dragon, and a Dumeralls Boa. Before Vic and Sheri came along and saved our lives, and made our cat and dog shopping with all fresh, organic ingredients in their baked fresh daily cookies, and other treats, their safe products to include chew toys to Dukes' squeekie's! He's 16 but his face lights up when he gets a new squeekie, and it's every couple days bc our black lab eats them for the squeaker. But Sheri knows what kind of toys he likes now, and she helps Mary pick them out, they are two of the most caring, compassionate, hoest, hard working, and willing to commit to about anything in the name of animal rescue, or animal charity, and we are proud and honored to call them our good friends. We buy all of our dog's and cat's treats and supplies there, except cat litter, sentinel, and glucosamine, but all of your other cat and dog needs can be met there, to include nails, baths, grooming, items for your best friend, items for you, items for other friends, and/or family. My experience had been a 5 plus until today when I met the female owner. I read another review where the husband is rude as well.

Some of this is copy and paste but same thing happened to me today. Female owner is a witch and God Knows - don't ask her a question that might mean she is wrong. Here come c/p from other customer:

She allowed us in but only with a rude attitude and eye rolls. We ended up walking out and not even looking around. I can spoil my pups from a store I feel more welcome in. I will not return.

The employees are great and if you look on Indeed - Glassdoor you will see former employees say the same thing. Other folks will take my money. I just feel sorry for those...

I really love this little shop and the owners as well. My husband and I have never had a bad experience going in. We usually end up in a conversation with the owners while were shopping because they are so friendly. I love the products they provide and the homemade treat options. I also love that they always give us a small pack of treats for every purchase. I get my german shepherd/husky mix groomed here and they do an amazing job. He always comes out very excited and pretty much a whole new dog. This is such a nice pet store to shop at, especially because you can bring your dog! I recommend small businesses like this over franchise stores because the owners truly love and care...
