Akron glassworks is an amazing place. You can walk into the repurposed basement of an old church and see a gallery of gorgeous art made by local glass artists. You can watch them create new pieces right before your eyes. You can even try your own hand at hot glass sculpting or glassblowing at one of their workshops. The workshops are so much fun. Whether you’re with a group or going it solo, the attention that you receive from the instructors ensures that you have a good experience and that you can be proud of the final product. Please remember that glass takes many, many hours to cool down and you will have to return at a later date to pickup your glass art. If this is a problem I know that they can ship it to you as well. You can take other classes there besides glassblowing. They offer stained glass, glass fusing and torch work bead classes. I’ve taken just about every class they offer and have loved every one. The private parties are really great for big groups and don’t forget to stop by to shop for one of a kind gifts. The upstairs Sanctuary event space is gorgeous and perfect for many kinds of special events. If you are interested in working with hot glass but aren’t ready to commit to a workshop, I’d encourage you to stop by one of their monthly Friday night...

This was our first experience creating a glass sculpture and it was a great introduction to the process and skills it takes to really create something beautiful from glass. The class was small and we took turns as couple's working with the instructor who first did a demo. They strongly assisted us with the first bird, but on the second bird we got to use the skills we learned on the first round to make something more unique to us. We will without a doubt be participating in another class very soon, hopefully making it back for each holiday...
Read moreWhat a fun time! My wife and I recently watched the Netflix series Blown Away and got interested. We were coming to Akron for a work gig I had.. she wanted to tag along and asked if there was anything in the area to do.
Was stoked when I ran across this on Google maps.
We did a couple breweries on Saturday, stayed the night, then Sunday morning went to the Lords house of Glass! hehe
Had a really great time. The instructors were chill, inciteful, and personal. Luckily it was us and 1 other couple... more one on one I feel.
The guys were kind enough to box up and mail our marbles to us... still waiting in anticipation for them to arrive.
All in all; I would highly suggest this interesting activity to...
