Absolutely amazing time! Big hit for a surprise date night event. The front shop is very appealing and full of great quality products, and then you move back to the kitchen and dining room. This is where The Dirty Apron is in a league of their own, so grateful that Anchorage is home to this great family business. We participated in the chicken curry public class. Guest Chef Judith was there to introduce us to the different spices, methods and pro-tips. A very informative and engaging class, followed by eating your own creation! The kitchen and dining combo looks like it was ripped out of a Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Chefs Table collage. Geary was a blast to have available during our class. He always made sure that everyone had their drinks topped off but more importantly, got to know everyone. His personal hot sauces are also top notch. I will definitely go back to The Dirty Apron; storefront, public classes and want to try out the private parties! I have already recommended multiple friends to go - again, so grateful Anchorage can claim this store as a...
Read moreHad a very disappointing "Thai Cooking" night last night. The class was $150 each, 2 of us went. For that price, and just as an expectation of a cooking class in general, I expected to learn something. This was NOT a class, it was 2 very basic, not really Thai, recipes printed out. There was no instruction that would classify it as a class. For what the basic ingredients were, we could have had this exact same night for $10 at one of our houses with what we already had in a cupboard. For a Thai cooking class I was expecting to learn about how to use thai spices and herbs and learn thai cuisine. We used a can of tomato sauce, coconut milk and sambal. And again, NO instruction! We just came to follow a recipe in someone elses kitchen. SUPER disappointing for $300! I was very lucky to have been with a friend so the night wasn't wasted because we still got together and chat but if I had been alone expecting a cooking class I would be furious.
The pros were that the space is really lovely, bight and a pleasant environment to spend a...
Read moreI recently booked a private cooking class where I, and several friends, learned how to prepare Duck A L'orange, a classic French dish, and it was an incredible experience! The class was taught by a knowledgeable and experienced chef who provided clear instructions and tips throughout the session.
The ingredients used were of high quality and the kitchen was well equipped. The chef showed us how to properly sear the duck breast and make the orange sauce from scratch. The end result was a perfectly cooked duck breast with a tangy and flavorful orange sauce that complemented the meat perfectly.
I booked and paid for the class for all of my friends and it was very nice that the owner, Gary, who was acting as chefs assistant, was very attentive to me specifically.
Overall, I highly recommend this cooking class to anyone who wants to learn how to cook French cuisine or just wants to expand their cooking skills. The experience was worth every penny and I left feeling confident in my ability to recreate this delicious dish at...
