Honestly one of the best IHG hotels I've ever stayed at.
I was in town for two weeks for work and had a wonderful experience at the Staybridge Suites in Anchorage. The staff was excellent during check in and throughout the stay; the kitchen staff during breakfast were extremely friendly and helpful, always going around to check on guests and got to know me over the course of my stay; The front desk staff was helpful with some minor reservation problems (all on my part) and even gave good recommendations for area food and attractions. The lobby was clean and organized, business area had plenty of computers available with fast internet and printing, the back patio area is amazing. The rooms were comfortable and large, I especially loved the bathroom setup and kitchen area. Great location close enough to shopping, groceries, downtown, and the military base. It didn't seem to take me long to get anywhere I needed to go, but I also felt the hotel was "tucked away" enough to not be bustling and loud like the downtown area was some nights.
Only a few downsides: there were a handful of days when housekeeping didn't seem to show up or left one trashcan unemptied or didn't replace towels. Overall not a huge deal at all, just minor details. The outdoor fireplace on the patio was out of service for the duration of my stay which, again while not a big deal, was a bit of a disappointment since we had such great weather during my trip. The only laundry facility is on the first floor. I really appreciate the free facilities and nice appliances, but other IHG's I've stayed at have had laundry on every floor. Better coverage from the blackout curtains would also be appreciated in an area like Anchorage that gets such extended sunlight hours during the summer!
Again, this is probably the nicest extended duration I've had at a hotel. IHG hotels are always wonderful and my first choice if possible. Thank you to the staff who made my...
Read moreI made a reservation that I thought I would only need for part of a day. I requested a very early check in as I was flying in with my husband for an oncologist appointment that wasn't scheduled until noon the day we arrived in Anchorage. On my reservation I requested an early check in of 8:30 a.m. I had no idea whether this request would be honored or not. The morning we were scheduled to travel, I called the hotel to ask if it was going to be possible to check in, this was January 24, 2023. The gentleman who answered knew who I was, had seen my special request and assured me that they had a room ready for us. It was a huge relief. Upon arriving at the hotel, the staff could not have been nicer and asked if we needed any additional items or if an accessible room was necessary. My husband, who tires very easily, went immediately to sleep until it was time for the appointment. Later in the day, we learned we did not have to spend the night, but had heard there were weather difficulties back home. Upon leaving the hotel for the airport, I spoke to the person at the front desk and explained I didn't want to "officially" check out due to weather concerns. The gentleman was awesome, told me to keep the keys in case we had to return and just call from home if we did make it out to check out. Well, we didn't make it and returned to the hotel. My husband again went straight to bed, but I was able to catch the last portion of the hospitality hour and really appreciated the food and beverages offered. It had been a very long, stressful, and sad day. The staff during the social time was nothing but kind and helpful. The following morning when we went to check out, the front desk arranged a cab for us because the shuttle was in for servicing. I am sincerely grateful for kindness shown to us. I don't know if my husband will live long enough to have to go to another appointment in Anchorage, but if we do need to return, I will stay at...
Read moreMy first experience at the Staybridge hotel was pretty extraordinary. Upon entering the hotel (from a side entrance using a key card)it looks for the most part like the hotels in the area. I noticed they have rooms just for guest storage. The lay out of the hotel was a little tricky but it allowed for several elevator locations so it was never a long walk no matter where you started. Walking into the room I was pleasntly suprised the room was a tastfully decorated studio suite featuring full kitchen scaled down about 10 %. Huge GE microwave oversized probably. A very attractive glass two burner cook top, refrigerator and dishwasher. Cupboards beutiffly done frosted glass were fully stocked with everything you would need aside from food, Even a can opener and colander. This hotel nailed it with the amenities! They have thought of everything. Paper towels,Pots/pans, cooking utensils, silverware, dishes, salt/pepper, pitcher, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Dove hygiene products shampoo/conditioner, body wash, facial bar, make up remover wipes.the couch was a sectional with a chase lounge and a pullout bed and bedding for more sleeping space. the furniture was all very functional. The tub and shower was lovely and had decent water pressure and very hot water. There is a fitness room Did I mention FREE guest laundry! Yup Yup FREE. I've never even heard of free guest laundry. There is a fitness room Indoor pool and spa also. The spa is almost as big as the pool with groovy color changing lights the pool area was clean and good size has a lift for thoes that have mobility struggles unfortunately the courtyard was closed due to ice conditions check out is at 12 which was nice The only negative I have anything to say about was the mattress pad had a few Yello stans as if it hadn't been...
