Fourteenth Avenue Salon and Day Spa — Attraction in Albany

I had a horrible massage experience here. I arrived 15 minutes early to ensure I had enough time to fill out paperwork, and to change, etc. The receptionist then told me to me to wait in the massage wing. The massage wing itself was nice and relaxing. I looked at my watch and noticed that it was a few minutes past my massage time, and nobody was there. I waited a few more minutes. Still no one. Finally someone came out of one of the massage rooms and didn’t say anything as she walked out, so I slightly opened the door to see if someone could help me. I felt uncomfortable walking all the way out because I only had a robe on, and someone who worked there said “I’m sure someone is coming for you soon.” Finally, 10 minutes late, my masseuse comes in and tells me to follow her. She walked me OUT of the massage wing, up the stairs (passing by the salon and everyone else in my bare feet and robe), and took me to a room on the upper floor. I had no idea that we were going outside of the massage wing, so I would’ve asked to at least put my shoes on before we went. The room I was now in was not nearly as relaxing as the massage wing, and it was brightly lit. She had music playing and I tried to relax as the massage started. Well I couldn’t. I could hear EVERY conversation and laugh from the employees as it echoed up to the room. I asked her multiple times to turn up the music to drown out the noise (it was THAT bad, sounded like loud college roommates), however it never drowned the sound out completely. She didn’t even massage for a full hour, and when she finished early, I didn’t even bother mentioning the fact that it wasn’t a full hour because my heart was beating so fast and I wanted to leave. Worst and most unprofessional salon experience I’ve ever...

I don’t normally come here but I’m glad I don’t. I had extensions in my hair and said that on the phone. I thought I had less extensions than I actually did however and yes that’s my bad! When I called I wasn’t thinking about time allotted just price so I asked “ if I have less extensions in like my hair like 12 is it cheaper”? She said no so I scheduled the apt and came in. I learned as I sat there she had a client coming at 12 my apt was at 1115. I said well we’re not gonna have enough time. She said I’ll have someone come finish conditioning you and dry you etc. no problem I said. This hairdresser comes and washs and conditions my hair then says I don’t have time to dry you. I say that’s ok I’ll just dry it myself since I live outta town can I borrow the hairdryer. She goes oh you can’t use someone else’s dryer and I can’t fix your hair cause I have a client. In the mean time no hairdresser of mine anywhere. I was like you gotta be kidding me so now my lunch is ruined cause I had lunch plans. I can’t borrow a dryer cause I guess I’ll break it. And nobody had any way to do anything at all to make it right. Just sorry your problem go away. I ask the front desk for a manager or name or number. Sorry nobody here today!!! Can I get a name and a number? No shell Be here tomorrow. All the while I’m dripping wet and now have to cancel my lunch plans to go home to dry my hair that I believe I paid to have done with the $78 service I paid for! I’m not happy nor will I come back! LISA is a new stylist at this salon and I will never use them again because of her. Total scam. She was under the impression that I wanted a full weave of color in my hair, I corrected her before she even started that I want her to bleach all over instead and then tone as close to platinum as she could, (my hair is already blonde). She proceeded to dye ONLY the roots blonde, leaving a yellow band around my crown and the rest of my hair was left platinum to the ends! She then stated I needed to come to her again for her to fix it further... as I was checking out they stated the cost for her to simply bleach my roots and trim my hair was $180! I questioned them if this was correct and they said yes! I should have fought them further at that point! I had to call back and request a receipt later to see she had charged me for a FULL WEAVE! I had to serve in the National Guard a day later, imagine my mortification at having a bright gold halo band in my hair in my military uniform and looking incredibly unprofessional. Tried to work with Lisa and my bank but no dice, I have had to pay another hundred dollars to try to fix this without frying my hair. Total scam. So thank you for wasting $280 dollars of my money for something I could have done better at home. Lisa is a scam artist. Shame on you, Fourteenth Ave. I’ll take my business elsewhere from now on.
