I was at the 11120 Lomas Target store today, 1/25, about 1pm.
I use a Handicapped Access Van - meaning I use scooter and use ramp to get in and out of van. I need extra space to park - specifically the parking spaces marked Handicap Parking - VAN ACCESSIBLE. Never fails when I go someplace the VAN ACCESSIBLE parking spaces are taken and usually by people/cars that do not need them. I've learned to think about where I go and where I'll park.
Target is one of a few stores that designate "Driver Pick Up". Some of these spaces are next to zoned off areas which make for an ideal place for someone with an accessible van to park. That is what I did today because all the Van Accessible spaces were occupied. A target employee let me know (on my way out) that I was wrong to park there. While I admire him taking me to task - I tried to explain that he/you should be talking to the people taking up the handicap spaces. I know that you cannot ticket "offenders" but you can take them to task as he did me. Sadly there'll be arguments and offenses taken like there were today which will damper the outlook of people's day.
The thing about any "Driver Pick Up" parking spaces is that the customers picking up orders call the store WHEN THEY ARRIVE with the SPACE NUMBER they are in. So consequently no one is going to be calling for pick up if they park in a space and go into the store. I would think an employee could figure out why a handicap van parked there.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has done this - I've only done it when I can't find a space. I do try to find something else. When I've parked in the boonies - it never fails that when I come out there is someone parked next to me and I can't get into my van. So at your Target, I opt for the Driver Pick Up IF I can't find a space.
Not sure what the answer is for violators of "Drive Up Pick Up" or "Handicapped Parking" or "Handicapped Parking Van Accessible". The City doesn't have the staff or time, businesses don't want to/ can't invest the time or expense to monitor parking lots. It seems to me that businesses and the City could make some money if they forged a partnership to address and enforce the issues. Bottom line for everyone - is it REALLY worth it to get upset if someone is parking in the wrong space?? Trust me I probably get much more irritated about this than any of your employees do.
The whole point of this was to provide prospective and apologize to your employee. My door is quick to close and a pain to open. I apologize for not discussing the matter more and being rude.
I do appreciate what salespeople deal with.
Tale good care...
Read moreWe usually don’t have problems at this store (hence the three star rating), but we also typically use self checkout, which wasn’t an option, as we were routed to an aisle with a cashier. I get that many of us are stressed, and tired, and fed up—but that does not give the cashier the right to be snippy and rude, especially for NO reason. My boyfriend and I were literally behind the social distancing sticker when we began loading our stuff onto the conveyor. The customer in front of us was by the card reader, in front of her sticker. We were careful to note and respect the required 6ft distance. So, we were both surprised when the cashier rudely informed us, “We are still socially distancing!” and forcefully shoved our items back towards us. We just looked at each other and stood where we were, because... well, we were properly socially distanced, according to the sticker we were behind. If there is a new rule that states one is not supposed to unload their basket until the person in front of them has cleared the aisle, there’s nothing posted about it, and nobody has ever mentioned it. If her behavior wasn’t off-putting enough, when my boyfriend went to pay, the cashier snidely remarked, “Maybe you didn’t hear me.” I’m really not sure what her expectations were...
If, by some crazy chance the cashier sees this... there’s already so much unkindness in this world. Maybe reconsider your reactions to what you perceive as wrong doing. Even if we had violated covid safe practices, you could’ve been polite, or at the very least, civil. I can only imagine the pressure you’re getting during the pandemic, and I don’t envy the position you’re in, but taking that out on customers isn’t putting anything good into the world. Though I noted your name, I’m not looking to get you in trouble. You’ll know who you...
Read moreI always use the drive up option at this target. however their parking lot is horrible. everyone waiting in their car for an order pick up during the summer is almost always uncomfortable because of the heat. i never minded this, however today some illegal parking lot driving (happens regularly) cut me off and prolonged my wait for drive up. since all the spots were taken.
the person who cut me off was not using target drive up, they were waiting for the target assets employee they knew, to come visit with them in the parking lot. but instead of using FREE spaces everywhere, they decided to use the drive up spots during BUSY 5-6pm times. then a FULLY UNIFORMED target assets employee came to socialize and inconvenienced me, the drive up staff trying to get orders done, and anyone elae waiting during peak times. embarrassing.
yall can't staff a proper cashier, so i utilize your drive up, just for your own staff to allow illegal and hazardous driving for a little social time. very unprofessional and embarrassing. car was a red kia, newer, and the gentleman was in y'all's bright yellow/black "target assets" uniform. YIKES, i just know he was still on the clock for his little...
