Los Altos Park — Attraction in Albuquerque

My dog likes it here he has come here since he was Four months old .. I take him to normal parks and spend quality one on one time with him teach him tricks and talk to him . .The dog park however is essential for him to socialize with dogkind learn how to behave among people that own dogs and not be afraid of other dogs. Why four stars? This dog Park needs new wood chips and mulch. Owners need to pick up after their dogs. There is poop all over the floor walk with caution. Best times are between 3:00PM to sunset more dogs and people. Some peope let their dogs poop all over and they dont pick up after their animals they are too busy preocupied socializing with other dog owners and dont notice their dog just took a dump. Watch out for poop when you walk and when you take your dog back to your car wipe his paws with a moist towel or a baby wipe for sure there is poo on his paws. I bathe mine after dog park visit because some dogs drool saliva, your dog may get it all over their neck from all the running and...

Unfortunately, Los Altos Park has been redesigned to discourage the unhoused so successfully, it's no longer appealing to people either.

The skate park area and the new 15 mph road (that Google doesn't recognize) are inviting, but the dog park is now the least accessible dog park in Albuquerque. The small dog area has gaps that allow small dogs access to the freeway and the large dog area both, and there's zero handicap accessible parking. Also zero shade, and while there is water, it will all drain away before the dog gets over being sprayed full force trying to drink. No way to fill bowls, and the gates require manual open and close, and are not handicap accessible by any stretch of the imagination.

I've been multiple times at different times of the day, and the I-40 noise has zero buffer making it unwelcoming and impossible to have a conversation. Definitely not conducive to building relationships.

First time bringing my great dane puppy here, she's ten months old.
