So last Friday I came here for the first time and ordered a steak burrito, a steak and egg burrito and two cookies. Everything was pretty normal at first but when it came to me to pay I pulled out my card and the the blond haired lady attitude immediately changed. She snatched my card and walked away with it. She started making orders and then came back after making 2 burritos. She then sat down and hugged and said cash is faster and then started swiping my card a bunch of times to get the reader to work. She was having problems with it so I asked if I should go to the gas station next door to use the ATM and she immediately replied "NO!". After about 2 real minutes there was a line forming behind me so she starts taking other orders and makes an announcement about cash being faster and cards take forever and that she could have helped 5 ppl by now. It was very embarrassing for her to call me out like that and all I did was walk in, order and hand her my card. I stayed quiet the whole time as I could tell she was bothered and I didn't want to end up like the soup guy from Seinfeld and not get my food. Once she got the app working she slammed the tablet on front of me without saying a word. I selected no tip and hit accept. (I actually tipped with the $3 dollars I had in my pocket when I first came in.) She took it back and then slammed it back on the table again so I could sign it. Once I signed it she got up to the back without a word. Just left my food and card on the counter.
Two things. The burritos were very basic and the Chile wasn't even that hot. I'll stick with beef jerky company.
Also the cookies were super hard and probably there since the day before.
I'm sure she has a loyal following of people but I for sure will never go back...
Also, I was over charged. The total to my card was $38. Quite expensive for 2 burritos and 2 cookies. I remember her saying the total was 15 before I added the cookies and I know they weren't more than the burritos.
I'll never come back... Not even to get a refund...
Read moreI’m 30, grew up in ABQ and never really went to this place until recently. Always knew it was there, just had other dependable options I frequented I guess. But I wish I had started going sooner! It’s becoming one of my go-to’s, about once a week.
Some of the older reviews are pretty low, so maybe as of recent they’ve taken suggestions and done things to fix concerns. But I doubt it, because what they’ve been doing has worked for them for a long time. It’s an odd spot for a restaurant for sure, it’s like walking into Consuelo’s living room in an ‘80s NE Heights home. But give it a chance!
All I can speak for are the bacon breakfast burritos because that’s all I get. They are delicious! It’s so uniquely made and how everything is cooked, and tasty! Almost like it comes from a well-seasoned pan with the flavor of thousands burritos past. Well-cooked potatoes and crispy-burnt bacon, how I like it. Made more like a big breakfast taco. The chile is always hot so beware! But flavorful. I’ve had the red & green; At this place, green happens to be my favorite and go-to. The basic burritos are a normal size for a fair price, but I like to order mine with extra egg, extra bacon. The menu is big, but I’m just not interested really in trying anything else. Don’t go to a burger joint and order tacos, it’s called Burrito Lady.
The first few times I came in, I stood in line for a while, and it took even longer using a card to pay. Seemed like the regulars called in orders ahead and used cash. So I started doing the same thing, in and out in 5 minutes. There are spots for dine-in, but the atmosphere is odd for a restaurant, and personally I’d rather eat in my truck or elsewhere.
It’s an old school spot, with old school ways. But the line out the door during peak hours should speak for itself. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke, it works for them and I think the bacon breakfast burritos are...
Read moreAnyone that gave this place a 1 star doesn't know what they're reviewing. It's not fancy. They don't have fountain drinks but you can get a can of coke. The green chile is the hottest I've had in 23 years of living in ABQ. They put a lot, but it's a place for if you like it hot. Honestly don't go here if you're expecting a dining experience. Go here if you want fantastic home cooked style food that feels like you went over to your grandma's house. There's usually nowhere to sit, like at grandma's house. The customer service is like if you rolled by your grandma's house cause she makes amazing burritos and you just asked her out the blue to make you one. She's not trying to listen to the extra she's just trying to find out what you want in your burrito so she can start putting it together. Then she gives you the burrito and makes sure you handle it with care cause she wants to make sure you're fed with that good food. If you expect to get treated like royalty here, it ain't for you. The pots got black on the bottom like grandma's house, if that bothers you..it ain't for you. But if you want something thats going to make you feel at home with the first bite, there is nothing like The Burrito Lady. 🌯 🤤❤️ also, as Consuela will tell you, if you pay with cash it'll make...
