Took another trip to Big Ben’s Comix Oasis in Allen Park, Michigan. This store has comics, collectable action figures, Funko Pop, and more. If you love Marvel, DC, and comics, you will love this place. Their inventory is massive. #comics #marvel #dccomics #funkopop #comicbook #comicbookstores #puremichigan

Just visit this store. If you can't find something here for a reasonable price, you're either not into this stuff or not trying very hard. This place has become my favorite local comic shop in the SE Michigan region. My first time in I bought a decent amount of comics and supplies. I pulled a $20.00 comic off the shelf because I forgot to grab it with my other purchases before checking out. As I was getting ready to pay for it, they just handed it to me and said, "Keep it. Tell your friends about us." The fella at the register also discounted me on all my comics before he threw in the free comic. Hey, I'll take it! So here I am folks to tell you all about it. My suggestion is to purchase larger quantities here at longer intervals (rather than a few at shorter ones) or get on the pull list & rewards program if you are a regular. I have a pull list here and am part of the rewards program (both free to sign up). Huge selection of back issues, new comics, toys, and more. Has an old school comic shop vibe with great music too. There is a Jet's Pizza attached to the building, which is just an added bonus. Just don't be the dude trying to bring his slice of pizza into the shop to eat while shuffling through comics. I love their display case of comics (they have an Amazing Fantasy 15!), and they also have graded/slabbed (CGC/CBCS) and high-grade ungraded comics, variants, etc. I picked up a high-grade Avengers Annual #10 (1st appearance of Rogue from X-men) for FMV. The shop also has an entire corner wall section of new issues and a huge amount of long boxes with back issues. Several shelves of toys and collectibles. Dollar longboxes, an entire back wall of Funko Pops, etc. There is a smaller selection of MTG and Pokemon cards comparatively to their comic selection, but they do carry them. If you think they are overpriced, remember–every shop has some items that are overpriced and every shop has items that are UNDERPRICED. Right now (2021) we are in a seller's market, which means the buyer pays a higher price for comics because the market is hot. Be the person who knows how to find undervalued comics in this climate and invest wisely if you're in to that. If not, buy what you love and be patient. The market always corrects itself. This is how the market works, and it is not the LCS's fault you don't understand this, nor is it their job to teach you. They provide the service of selling you sweet comics that you love and can't find otherwise. You can learn a lot from the staff here if you just have conversations with them. Get to know them. Be a decent human being and customer. You can always go to online shopping if you want a lower price, but then shipping bites your savings (or you still get overcharged), and you can't physically look at the comic. And if this isn't the shop for you for some reason or due to a poor experience, find an LCS that provides what you are looking for. Keep the hobby thriving. A note about selling to this shop–or any LCS–again, learn how the market works before being too critical. Some people's reviews are critical about the selling experience here, but I feel that many of them don't understand the marketplace of an LCS. Like coins and other collectible shops, they have to buy what you sell at a reduced rate to turn a profit. It sucks if you inherit a collection and want to get rid of it quickly, but I'd recommend trying to sell off comics and collectibles on your own if you want to get the FMV or highest value for them. If they are going to do the hard part for you, then you will pay them for it through a reduced offer. Somtimes this will be pennies to the dollar. Most collectible stores chop 20-50% off the FMV when you sell to them. That's not "robbing you" or "ripping you off." Put yourself in their shoes: why buy something from a customer at FMV when you have to turn around and resell it for the same? It's rarely worth their time unless it is a hot book on the market. No one paid me to write this review. I just feel this is the best place for me and worth visiting for sure.

If you are ever in the Allen Park/ Detroit area (6 miles from the airport) and have time to kill I'd highly recommend BIG BENS COMIX OASIS !! Killer shop with a great inventory and very fair pricing. I've only made it over there twice despite it only being 2 hours away, today being my 2nd stop. Big Ben sitting there behind the counter noticed the STACK of books I was buying and asked the cashier "Is he buying all of those?" She told him "yes" and he responded "Give him 10% off then." She told him my card had already been charged and he replied "Well pick out $40 worth of stuff then before ya go!" I said "Well I was eyeing that book there (pictured) and it's priced at $40, would ya do that?" He said "Oh yeah, you can have that!" Could I have gotten the book cheaper on eBay? Yes, but i prefer to support brick and morter any chance i get and not many shops I've ever been to go out of their way like that. I'm a happy customer and plan to make the drive a few more times a year for sure!

A true collectors paradise. Spanning decades of Toys, Comics and Memorabilia. Big Ben's has it all. It would take hours to go through what all this store has. Behind showcases you can see classic Star Wars toys from the 70s. In glass cases they have Classic G.I. Joe figures from the 80s. They Have a huge Selection of Funko Pop Vinyl figures as well as a huge selection of Marvel Legends Action figs. They also have He-Man, Transformers,Godzilla, Horror TMNT, WWE figs. Diamond Select pvc statues as well as more high end statues. There comic book back issues are massive along with 3 dollar and 1 dollar bin value comics. They have wall to wall trades both Marvel and DC along with Hard Cover Trades and Omnibus. They also have a 5 and 10 dollar value section for their trades. They carry Current issues as well, with variants along with CGC graded comics. The grails of CGC are on display behind the counter. They also carry a variety of tabletop and card games like Magic and Pokémon. Throughout the store are Full Size statues of Batman, Deadpool and Harley Quinn. Above all is the service. The staff is friendly and eager to help. They are knowledgeable and can answer most questions you throw at them, If they can't, they will point you in the right direction. Last weekend I decided to liquidate a very small portion of my collection. I brought it to Big Ben's with a FMV price in mind. After the staff looked through what I had, and with a little bit of negotiation. We came to an agreement that we were both happy with. Walking away from that experience alone. I was very satisfied and didn't feel ripped off. I do not live near this shop, however I go out of my way or plan trips to this place at the minimum, on a quarterly basis. Big Ben's Comix Oasis is a diamond in the rough of...

This place has a good selection no matter what you're looking for. Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. Their lie of, "We're always buying collections," is just that...a lie. I called them on Sunday and asked if they were buying to which the gentleman I spoke to said, "Oh yeah, we're always buying," so today (Tuesday) I made the 25 minute drive to the store only to be told by, I'm assuming the owner that they weren't buying anymore collections today. I understand that some days are busier than others, but don't say that you're always buying when you're not. When he (very reluctantly) agreed to look at what I had, without even looking at the figures, he said, "I'd give you $5 per figure because they won't sell. Did you see the section of these that I have?" I did actually and he didn't have a single one of the figures I offered. Some of those figures are valued at $70 and he was only offering $5 and couldn't even be bothered to look at which figures I had to know the difference. Then when he looked at my Pops, he asked me what I wanted for them. I did my research beforehand and I know that they have a value of $332 and I asked for $240. That's less than 70%. He said no and that he would only do $140 which is literally 42% and then seemed annoyed when I refused. I understand owning and operating a business and the need to make money. But there's a difference between that and just being cheap. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but I will...
