This is a fun photo op to make when visiting Alton, Illinois! Robert only lived to be 22 because he got an infection in his feet which killed him. #bucketlist Robert Wadlow was the tallest man to have ever lived. He was born in Alton in 1918 and at the time of his death in 1940, Wadlow measured 8-feet, 11.1 inches tall. He is named in the Guinness World Records book.

My grandson had been watching YouTube about Robert Wadlow so when we went on vacation and planned our route through Alton he was elated! He was thoroughly impressed with the life sized monument and chair and the small park dedicated to Robert Wadlow! This stop was a great learning experience for my grandson and granddaughter. By the way, my shoe size is 11!

Have stopped a few times over the past 25 years to check this out and show others, they’re always amazed and laughing at how unreal it is that he was that tall and how humongous that chair replica is. I’m 6’2 with a size 14 shoe and I’m a dwarf compared to him side by side lol. Definitely worth a stop.

A very nice tribute to Mr. Wadlow. If you're a history nerd like me, go on YouTube and search for "Dugroz Reports Robert Wadlow Statue" and you can see a short video I made of my visit.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there were no signs along the main road directing you to the parking area for the statue, so it was tricky to "get to" unless you know what you were...
